American Arcana is a new sublabel from Mondo Macabro focusing on US exploitation and genre films. Our first release is a Blu-ray co-branded by Something Weird Video of two extreme softcore roughies from their archive - THE RAVAGER and THE BUSHWHACKER!
Both films have been transferred in 2K from archival 35mm prints from the SWV vaults. We've also edited in a missing gore scene for THE BUSHWHACKER from an SD source, making it the most complete version ever released on home video. The region free disc will also have trailers for both films (BUSHWHACKER in HD, RAVAGER in SD), as well as a selection of "roughie" trailers from the SWV archives, all scanned in 2k.
Initially this release will be only available at mondomacabro.bigcartel.com in a numbered, limited edition. It will come in a slim red case (the same red case MM used for the PERVERSION STORY LE), a reversible cover (see images below), a booklet featuring a brand new essay by Robin Bougie about THE RAVAGER, and a set of postcards reproducing original ad art for both films. Once this sells out, an unlimited retail edition will follow with a different cover and without all the bells and whistles.
We plan on putting this up for pre-sale in January, along with the LE Mondo Macabro blu for THE DEVIL'S NIGHTMARE. Exact date is TBD, but probably around the second or third week in that month.
