Good to know. That release was originally expected in July of this year.

The vintage interview with Jack Hill talking with Robbie Lee and Joanne Nail dates back to the early-mid 1990's, when Jack Hill and Johnny Legend were releasing Hill's films on VHS. That filmed conversation only appeared on the Hill/Legend videocassette.

I assume that the Hill/Tarantino audio commentary was licensed from the Criterion laserdisc, but I don't know for certain.

THE WILDEST GIRL GANG THAT EVER BLASTED THE STREETS!

From Jack Hill, legendary director of Spider Baby, Coffy, Foxy Brown, and The Swinging Cheerleaders comes another iconic cult classic, Switchblade Sisters!

Lace (Robbie Lee), the leader of inner city girl gang The Dagger Debs, meets her match when new girl Maggie (Joanne Nail) moves into the neighbourhood. Mistrust and conflict turn to friendship as the girls end up in Juvenile Detention together at the mercy of abusive guards. Meanwhile, The Dagger Debs' male counterparts The Silver Daggers have to contend with the arrival of a new gang, led by the villainous Crabs (Chase Newhart). But when the girls get back on the streets, a planned retaliation strike in tandem with The Silver Daggers backfires and puts Lace in hospital. Maggie assumes control, teaming up with Muff (Marlene Clark) and her gang of African-American militants from across town to declare all out war. But there's a traitor in their midst...

Filled with sharp, clever dialogue and tongue in cheek humour, this Shakespeare-influenced girl gang/women in prison/action movie medley is a stone cold grindhouse classic!

Plenty of new extras and a Deighan/Ellinger commentary? Bring it on! I can finally dump the DVD with that toe-loving banana-chin gobshite spraying his scent all over the bonus features.

Almost all of the extras appear on the German Subkultur release, other than adding the new audio commentary and dropping two other ones (the one with Hill and QT, and another one in German audio). I'd be tempted to buy the Arrow if it was a region 1 release, since I'm in the US. The Subkultur Blu-ray plays in region 1.

This will be a very hard pass for me, as I've loved the film ever since seeing it first-run in a San Francisco grindhouse theater back in 1976.

However, if I read reviews that the image quality of the Arrow is somehow superior to the Subkultur, then I'll have to think again.

Jobla, the Arrow is getting released in the US. (I'm assuming that Miramax's rights have finally expired.)

Thanks for the correction, I will probably get the Arrow in that case.

When I was in San Francisco in 1976, my buddy and I had our choice of two options, either SWITCHBLADE SISTERS and THE ARENA, or SNUFF and NECROMANIA (yep, the Ed Wood flick, although I had no knowledge of NECROMANIA back then). My buddy was afraid that SNUFF was real, so we opted for SWITCHBLADE SISTERS.

                    Jack Hill's masterpiece, finally.
Why would anybody watch a scum show like Videodrome? Why did you watch it, Max?

A must buy. Arrow is really killing it for April, and my wallet.
