what the hell is with AGFA releasing "smut without smut"? Who the hell wants to buy movies where they cut out half the movie? I mean that is the most retarded idea I have ever heard of. Yeah great guys give me more edited movies. Needless to say I won't buy this crap. lol

The AGFA Horror Trailer Show is a must buy for fans of found footage and mixtapes. The bonus trailer show, which showcases SOV obscurities, is actually superior to the main feature; there's a few on there that I'm still thinking about. Holy Moly! Why would anybody watch a scum show like Videodrome? Why did you watch it, Max?

In spite of helping back the Kickstarter (I only pledged a meager $15 so I can't be too sore) for the 4K scanner I've yet to buy a single BluRay that resulted from this campaign. I used to live in Denver, a city with two Alamo Drafthouses, and never attended any of the screenings either. Honestly I don't recall there being that many although I can't say I really paid much attention.
Obviously AGFA has utilized that scanner for plenty of other projects but the Kickstarter made allusions to a fruitful team-up with SWV and the end results have been disappointing to say the least. That original press release quoted above was in reference to theatrical presentations and general preservation. I understand that no promises were made to roll out extensive physical media releases but the implications were there and I can't imagine that we'll see anything close to what we saw in the heyday of the Image/SWV DVD partnership. This has been a giant dud.
In the moment of history we're currently experiencing I can't see there being much future in theatrical screenings. I also don't see potential for any sort of new streaming service derived exclusively from the SWV archives but perhaps they and AGFA could begin licensing titles to Shudder or Amazon Prime. What I'd really like is for them to partner with Vinegar Syndrome for a line of Something Weird discs. Wishful thinking. Now everyone can have a complete KRULL lifestyle.

A full SWV/VS partnership is unlikely. But now that AGFA is being distributed by VS, they have a bunch of releases slated this year and there'll be more SWV/AGFA titles soon. Maybe things didn't turn out quite as they'd initially hoped, but it doesn't bother me (I chipped in to AGFA too). I believe AGFA's cancelled FLESHPOT ON 42ND STREET bd was the tenth co-branded title, btw. Re: streaming, it's being worked on.

Expectations can be a bitch. But i'm very happy to have THE VIOLENT YEARS, TAKE IT OUT IN TRADE, GODMONSTER OF INDIAN FLATS, SHE MOB and SATANIS, in roughly that order. And i don't think it was a SWV collab, but LADY STREETFIGHTER is pretty awesome too. They do seem to be picking up a head of steam with VS distributing, i'm pretty good with what they've accomplished.

The Bat Pussy BD has now gone OOP. Here is what Lisa Petrucci said in the comments to a post on the SWV Facebook group:
So here's what's up (from the horse's mouth). The BAT PUSSY Blu-ray has sadly gone Out of Print. The first pressing is now sold out and AGFA has moved on to work with a different distributor, so it won't be re-pressed. I bought up the last remaining inventory from the distributor yesterday, so the BP Blu-ray will be back in stock on the SWV website once I receive more inventory in a week or two. (Yesterday ALL my existing BP inventory got bought up! I hadn't seen the Instagram post from AGFA yet and was wondering why the hell everyone was buying so many BP Blu's í ½í¸‚) But don't fret. There are plans to re-release BP again. Stay tuned! (And in the meantime the crummy original DVD-R version from the 1990s Dragon Art Theatre Double Feature VHS release is still available from SWV...)
