  • Valerie And Her Week Of Wonders

Not a ton of news but I haven't seen this mentioned in the usual places.

An outfit from Australia called Glass Doll Films has made some nice title announcements lately, this is one of them:

"The magical experience of one of the greatest films of the Czech New Wave....Valerie And Her Week Of Wonders is coming in a new 4k HD transfer in 2015 from Glass Doll Films."

    Rock! Shock! Pop!

First time watch for me, currently riding a wave of Czech cinema. This has got to be one of the most unusual films I have ever seen. It makes no sense but at the same time completely does. I'm very surprised that no one other than US Criterion has picked this up on blu. Its absolutely mesmerising.

My second favourite Czech film, right behind Tri Oriesky pro Popelku (Three wishes for Cinderella/Three nuts for Cinderella) which is also awesome.

Great film. I put on the Blu the other month intending to check out a few minutes and get sucked in and watched the whole thing again. Criterion's release is inexplicably too blue in tint, but it's miles ahead of the previous DVD releases. A surreal and mesmerizing film. Surely this must have been an influence on LEMORA and maybe ALABAMA'S GHOST.

If it's lacking the god damned teal tint of the Criterion, I'm in.
