  • If I'm in the right mood The Iron Rose is my favourite. That or Lips of Blood. It's a shame that Francoise Pascal didn't do more films (she ended up doing wretched UK sitcoms).
I'm bitter, I'm twisted, James Joyce is fucking my sister.

I like the way that, with 'Requiem..', 'Iron Rose', and 'Demoniacs', he did three in a row with clowns.... but no clowns either before or after that, insofar as I recall.

I hope we'll get a 'Jean Rollin: The Clown Years' essay from someone at some point.

Reading the runes of Indicator's release choices to date by the way, I'd probably put money on either 'Grapes of Death' or 'Living Dead Girl' as the other half of the next duo?

My second favorite Rollin! Interesting plot (reminded me a little bit of HELLRAISER in how the title character regains something through the taking of human lives), the right amount of gore typical of his 80's stuff, some unexpected moments (the killing of one character in particular), and underlying all of it, a great (and touching, if I'm being honest) story about the friendship since childhood between the two women that transcends death.

              • Pretty excited that Requiem for a Vampire and The Escapees are coming on 4K in December. Requiem is my favorite of the remaining unreleased titles, and I feel like Escapees is really underrated.

                    • I guess that's most of the big Rollin titles released in 4k now (apart from The Iron Rose and The Living Dead Girl). Will The Escapees sell 10000? I don't think that any of these have had standard edition releases yet. Might need to start printing less, or at least make better cover art now that all the ones with cool posters are all out. Will have to think long and hard about upgrading some of these now.

                          • Phantasmes is an interesting one. If they have it, I'm pretty sure it would be a US only release. I know the BBFC passed some hardcore deleted scenes in Night of the Hunted, but I doubt they'd pass this one. Their criteria is about something being classified as a sex work. Totally subjective on their part, but I suspect they'd view it as more porn than art/horror. But who knows, maybe one day they'll acknowledge the futility of their existence in the modern age. At the very least they should acknowledge the hypocrisy of passing real sex if they view it as an arty or film of substance. Especially when there's stuff like Liberte that they deem worthy. I seriously doubt that the motive behind that was was anything other than producing scandal (the director comes across as a total sleaze).

Yep. Based on their spine numbers, I feel there's good reason to hope for Phantasmes (and the less-problematic Schoolgirl Hitchhikers). Fingers extra crossed.

Fly Me The French Way would have to be in there too, I hope.
