  • Shameless announce Formula For A Murder (1985)

Never heard of it, know nothing about it except it's a late giallo and that's good enough for me. Shamelesses write up:

The late, great, David Warbeck (The Black Cat; The Beyond) delivers one of the very best performance of his career as the star of this film which had hitherto disappeared off the face of the world! Never released in UK, it is presently not available anywhere, it's cult status precedes it!

The film opens in 1960 Boston with a faceless maniac dressed as a priest who gives a little girl a doll. Only the doll escapes ... Some 20 years later, the victim Joanna - who is now wheelchair bound - is revealed as being a wealthy heiress who has funded a sports centre for paraplegics. She now plans to also donate a substantial amount of her wealth to the local church… but someone else close to her fancies the cash and will flash a razor in anyone's face to get it! Slash for Cash!

This new Shameless release is mastered from new restored HD sources in the original full widescreen film format, with English audio. Complete and uncut.

    Release Date: 27th January 2014
Special Features: Trailers, Collector's Lobby Cards Gallery, Alternative English Credits & Shameless Trailer
    Certificate: 18
    Run Time: 85 mins (approx.)
    Year: 1985
Audio: English audio & optional Italian Audio with English Subtitles available.

Shameless Screen Entertainment will be releasing FORMULA FOR A MURDER on the 27th Jan 2014. More details to follow soon...

In general I'm not a big fan of 1980s gialli, but this one is good. Great twist and an over the top performance from Warbeck. This and the same year's NOTHING UNDERNEATH are probably my favorites from the decade along with TENEBRE. Unfortunately, as I recall Warbeck was dubbed by someone else in the English language version.
I don't go to church. Kneeling bags my nylons.

I didn't make it to the end of Nothing Underneath when I saw it. If it comes recommended maybe I should give it another crack.

Have the old VHS of this and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Great final act to this one; definitely going to double dip.

What's going on with this release, does anyone know? It seems to have been pulled from sale at the last minute, with the release date now postponed till February!

Yes. I've read on the Internet about some people receiving their preorders from Amazon - but the release has been officially 'pulled' or at least delayed until February

There's no longer an Amazon listing ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_...a+for+a+murder ) and most other etailers show a release date in February now.

              Curious.

My copy arrived yesterday too, so I'm glad I preordered. I wonder why they've popped it on ice? The yellow mackintosh is quite an outré giveaway.
