The Extraordinary Adventures of Adí¨le Blanc-Sec

Picked up the BD of this from Amazon recently on the cheap, figuring to give it a shot. With Besson back in the driver's seat, it does suffer from some of his hallmark issues (pacing, man - learn it!) but overall this one actually wasn't bad at all. The mummies in it are the best part, generating a good mix of humor & heart amongst the action. The CGI on them is even better than that of the pterodactyl that's featured more prominently throughout the story, too. Very thoroughly French, it's good to see ol' Luc back at the helm.

The disc from Shout Factory! was pretty well done (3 short extras, 4 deleted scenes) and the image quality was really quite solid - maybe too good, considering some dodgy CG on that pterodactyl... The audio tracks are really strong but, for some reason, they've included an abysmal dubbed soundtrack that's even edited for the family-friendly American audience, I'm guessing? I compared the FR and dubbed tracks on one scene in particular where the main character asks her local guide, "What's Arabic for 'Move your ass or you're dead?'" that, dubbed, came through as, "What's Arabic for 'Move your feet or you're dead?'" and that just struck me as odd.
It's not going to suck itself...
