This is a major release so far as I'm concerned. It will be nice to see THE DEMONS at the proper pitch without the PAL whir-up. I wonder which version or versions Redemption has and what the running times are. The imdb lists:
1 hr 38 min (98 min) (Argentina)
1 hr 19 min (79 min) (USA)
1 hr 43 min (103 min) (restored) (USA)
Also, LES DEMONS appears to be a 1972 film. British censors denied it a release in 1972. It came out in 1973 after extensive cuts.
The above poster references THE EXORCIST which was released Christmas 1973 so the poster must be from 1974 or later. Anyone have other posters?
Let's see some posters.Last edited by Richard--W; 02-06-2014, 12:55 PM."I've been to college, but I can still speak English when business demands it."

Richard, in terms of length, Redemption is using a print that would appear to be the 114-minute edit that was issued on the X-Rated DVD label in Germany in 2004. That print runs at (roughly) 118 minutes at 24fps. What will be interesting to see is if the music will be tampered with like that release or if the library tracks that Gerard Kikoine used when doing the post-synch will be allowed to play out as originally intended. In addition, seeing a French-language, English-subtitled version will be a treat as the film does play well in French.
In terms of original theatrical release date, LES DEMONS was released in America in 1974 by Howard Mahler films and given an MPAA R-rating. The length of that print was 79 minutes and is identical to the VHS release on the VML label in The Netherlands. If I am not mistaken, LES DEMONS was shot around the same time as EROTIC RITES OF FRANKENSTEIN and DAUGHTER OF DRACULA so 1972 would be when the film was shot and likely given its initial release in France.

I will give my personal thanks to anyone who finds out if this is region locked. I simply cant be assed chasing up this information everytime Redemption release a Franco title on blu-ray. I'm assuming the worst, as Redemption indicated months back that these may be locked. This may end my run of Redemption Franco titles, unless of course I buy a multi region player.

Originally posted by Richard--W View PostMick, thanks for clearing that up. The X-Rated Kult DVD was cobbled together from different sources, and the image quality was accordingly variable. Let's hope Redemption / Kino have a better transfer of the 114-minute edit. In the U.K. Redemption / Salavation released a 100 minute edit, which I have. So it's not like Redemption doesn't have access to another version.

Has anyone received "the Golden Goya collection" blu-rays in slipcovers?

I have the answer, Lalala. I know whether or not the Redemption blu-ray will be region locked.
