I ordered DOWNTOWN, DIE SKLAVINNEN and WICKED WOMEN - the latter two bundled together with that upcoming LORELEY'S GRASP BD I can wait for those, but I want DOWNTOWN in my hands now, dammit!!!

I'll pick all of these up eventually, but for now I'm going to focus on those that are significant upgrades (DOWNTOWN) or those that I never got round to buying on DVD (DIE SKLAVINNEN, WICKED WOMEN). Sorely tempted by BLUE RITA, however, which I think will look great in HD.

I'm with you completely on the opening to A VIRGIN..., Richard. Very haunting imagery, driven by a pulsing, throbbing score. I love it. But then, the whole of that film is filled with some similarly haunting imagery.

I got these from Amazon.de. Don't worry, I'll get my BARBED WIRE DOLLS fix from dtm.at in due course (I love dtm.at, and used to use it all the time until Amazon.de appeared, but they can be s-l-o-w.)

Not as far as I know, Richard. I believe the only title such affected (or should I say afflicted) was DORIANA GRAY, where the English dub was prepared for the DVD release. The rest of the English dubs were prepared for the films' original English versions, I'm pretty sure.

Certainly, the German audio tracks on the DVDs contain the same German language tracks that I remember from watching some of these films via VHS copies and recordings from German television during the 1990s.

EDIT: Or is this in relation to the Blu-rays only?

No shit!!! And minimum order is £15. Pain in the ass. Hopefully though there will be something else at the same time. I may buy the standard blu of Frauleins in uniform, just for the hell of it. Its out the same day, or maybe Love camp (although I really don't know about that)

The blu-rays have the same audio tracks as the dvds

I haven't seen FRAULEINS IN UNIFORM. Might buy it just for the title alone LOVE CAMP will be one that I'm picking up, as I missed out on the VIP DVD and instead bought the UK Anchor Bay release - which was cut.

'swhat I thought. The German tracks should be the originals, then, and all of the English dubs (barring DORIANA) should be the originals too, as I recall.

              • Paul, you mean the revoicing was done in the 1990s?

I just bought WOMEN IN CELL BLOCK 9 from Diabolik. I would have bought DORIANA GREY but it's sold out.

Hope I'll be able to watch the film in its 1977 native voice track with English subs.

I have TWO copies of the film on Ascot-Elite DVD, one still in shrink wrap, to trade or whatever, if anyone wants them.

On another matter, it would be customer-friendly if Diabolik allowed its regular customers to have a wish-list so that one can keep track of their inventory and correlate what one can afford to buy with the available titles. That way one can move titles out of the wish list into the cart. Every time I go to Diabolik I have to do another search.

I also think that paypal purchases should be appear in a customer's account. There is no record of a paypal purchase on Diabolik.

I think both Paul and myself are saying that the audio tracks are the originals prepared for the English speaking territories on original release (barring Doriana). Paul was referring to when he first watched them, when he said 1990s. However if you already own the ascot-dvds and are still convinced that they are not the original audio tracks, then nothing will change for you regarding the blu-rays as they are the same.

Exactemente - except, as both Lalala and myself mentioned above, for DORIANA..., whose English track was (as I recall) recorded specially for the DVD.

No, that's not the case. How you got that idea? All German tracks are the originals from the 70's and most other languages are also the original tracks (English and French were usually done by Guy Gibert in Belgium). They did some (very few) new dubs for their DVD releases about 10 years ago (afaik only films that were never dubbed before in English/French), but they stopped it, because it was much to expensive. As for their BD releases they did no dubs at all.

edit: I see Paul and Lalala already cleard that up. So I can just add: They are right. ;)

Haven't got a Scooby. Just found them, myself. I suppose its nice for hardbox collectors. I'm still sticking with ascots releases. Just to note though, ascot used the Marquise von Sade title, whereas this is the Doriana title, so could be different job or maybe the softcore version. That being said, the softcore doesn't have any English translation, whereas this has.

                              • Interesting. I'm not double dipping on imports just for fancy packaging but if it's the softcore Doriana, maybe I need it even if I prefer the hardcore version of that movie.
