You watch your copy yet? It's a rather dark, slightly worn print. Still a big upgrade from what I had so I'm not sorry I got it but it's definitely not great looking. Seeing this in widescreen just made me love the film even more though. This is a top notch crime film with plenty of action and some brutal killings. Love the Ortolani score too, I think Chris' Soundtrack Corner released it, I need to see if I can still hunt it down. Have a cut or two on various comps (that Tomas Milian one that came with a book for one).

I haven't yet, actually Been really busy, but yeah Chris Soundtrack Corner released the score; it's an awesome disc! I can probably deal with the dark print, too; anything's better than the version I saw on the Dorado channel.

I reviewed the score a couple of years ago here:

      • How can it be that the AMAZING scene from Street Law where Nero is chased by a Ford Mustang in slow motion, is not up on Youtube?! I can't start fiddling around with the DVD this early in the morning for fear of waking up the kids, AND I NEED THIS LIKE I NEED MY TAR BLACK CUP OF COFFEE AND THE FIRST MORNING SNUS!!!!!!

Finally did watch it, and yeah....the print isn't the greatest, but it's a definite improvement. Liked it even more the second time; some really good performances here, especially from Balsam, who actually looks a bit lively and enthused in this one, haha.

I agree, Scyther. This film took a huge leap in my estimation after viewing this disc, warts and all PQ-wise. Seeing it in widescreen was a marked step up. This one's a gritty and quite violent picture with a very solid cast - particularly Balsam as you mentioned. I really dig the downbeat ending as well. One that more people should see for sure.

            • Just saw on instagram that Kino are releasing Blazing Magnum on blu in 2016! In other words: potential release of the year coming up.

              • Scorpion are overseeing it, but yes, it's coming out from Kino. No extras but reversible cover art is always a nice touch.

                  • Good news indeed. I still have a VHS of this (as STRANGE SHADOWS...) that I found at a flea market many years ago. I was excited as hell to find it, haha. I also have a nice looking widescreen fandub, and the awesome Trovajoli soundtrack. This one has a KILLER car chase.

                    • Watched Ricco: the Mean Machine. Pretty boring. I liked the opening but after that nothing really happened aside from poorly choreographed fights. The castration/acid bath scene is the sole highlight.

Yes, indeedy I still have my UK VHS, from Medusa, of this one too. It's a fun film. This is a must-buy for me.

                          • It's kind of funny to me that what could be Fulci's hardest film to watch in terms of violence is Contraband. The Bunsen burner torture and the rape of Fabio Testi's wife is some wince-inducing shit.

                            • Just re-watched "The Cynic, The Rat and the Fist" and "Violent Naples." Man, these are great movies. I was an idiot for selling them the first time around when I got rid of most of my movies. Glad to have them back. Next up - the Fernando di Leo boxed set vol. 1. I remember loving "Milano Calibro 9" and "The Boss" (if this is the one where Henry Silva annihilates a bunch of mafia guys in a porn theater with a grenade launcher).

                              • You should really check out Almost Human. Easily Lenzi's best film and one of the best Polizi films.
