  • R.I.P. Giovanni Lombardo Radice

Grindhouse Releasing and a few other sources are reporting that he's passed away.

Anyone who ever had the chance to meet him knows what genuinely nice guy he was.

Bollocks. One of the biggest characters in an industry full of big characters. RIP Naughty Mike.

He was so awesome. Easily in my top 10 favourite interview subjects; I could listen to him for hours. It's really sad to consider that in his last(?) interview on the HOUSE ON THE EDGE OF THE PARK disc that he was smoking cigs and even said to the camera "Don't ever smoke." RIP.
Why would anybody watch a scum show like Videodrome? Why did you watch it, Max?

Damn, I hate to hear this. He really was a fantastic interview, not afraid to get into dirty details. A top-notch character actor. One of my favorites. RIP.

I got to meet him back in 2007 at a con in NJ. I had him sign my Cannibal Ferox DVD, he asked me 'Why do you want this movie signed, it's bad!' or something to that effect. He was very timid at the convention. Very kind, happy to meet fans, but reserved - maybe he was nervous about having to speak English, I don't know - he could have just been jet lagged and tired. But he was friendly enough and happy to talk for a few minutes.

Anyway, if for Ferox alone the guy was a fucking legend. Throw in Cannibal Apocalypse, Gates Of Hell and of course House By The Edge Of The Park and - who could have played those roles better? Nobody. He was great. 68 seems too young.

And he was right - don't smoke.

He died the same day as his Cannibal Apocalypse co-star Ramiro Oliveros.

Legend. His performances in Cannibal Ferox, Gates of Hell and House by the Edge of the Park really sold me on Italian exploitation way back in the day. It was amusing when he popped up on the old DVDManiacs forums.
