Always worried when a company that has enough cash to buy the rights but not enough to restore the film gets hold of something. Then they say they'll restore it whether they get the money or not anyway. It just sounds like enthusiastic, well intentioned fans rather than a viable business and potential vapourware. This title is pretty niche even by Eurocult standards. And the goal to release it by the end of next month doesn't sound even remotely viable when they don't even have a transfer yet. Doesn't make me want to invest where there is clearly no business nous.
Reminds me of that UK Exposure Cinema Stagefright release where they had to be bailed out by 88 by selling on their other rights and were never heard from again.
Don't get me wrong, I really hope this comes off, but I'm wary when a new company has to do this and talks of estimated dates which are not realistic.
Yeah, some confusing messaging going on here for sure.
I'll generously assume the May delivery date is a mistake, but still not sure I want to cough up £25 in advance for a movie I'm entirely unfamiliar with, which they're apparently going to restore & release "anyway".
Their FAQ repeats the Late May pledge so it's probably not a typo. They also have The Vampire Of The Opera and The Road To Fort Alamo in the lineup. If I had a spinning disc player, and supported films being released this way, I'd be giving them a boost.

Hello fans and friends,
As many of you may have noticed, the restoration campaign for "The Sex of Angels" is currently under review; this is due to some misunderstandings involving foreign copyrighters.
There is nothing to worry about, and we hope that by the end of the week everything will be back to normal; the show must and will go on!
Best and beyond,
Malombra Team
Unfortunately, our dispute with the international distributor on "The Sex of Angels" is still ongoing. We have now restorted in contacting a lawyer to settle an agreement; we are aware that many of you are awaiting the release, and we assure you that everything will be sorted out as swiftly as possible.
