Anyone seen this teaser for the Directors cut? I own the theatrical cut and was indecisive about the whole thing on reflection. Now this damn teaser has me interested again. It looks filthy (be warned it is very NSFW). This looks like the version that should have been released in the first place. Of course this is all cleverly edited to make it look much more enticing.

How much full frontal is there in the theatrical cuts? Those will open in Japan in few months, but anything below the belt tends to get digitally censored whenever in sexual context. I'm wondering if the film would still be worth seeing, or it it will turn into unintentional comedy with all the fogging...

But first, Skarsgard discussed how he came onboard Nymphomaniac. “[Von Trier] called me a year before we started and said, 'Stellan, my next film will be a porno film and I'd like you to play the male lead… but you will not get to fuck. But you will show your dick at the end, and it will be very floppy.' Who can resist that invitation?”
Almost as good if not better than Kim Ki-duk's's "penis journey" quote.

                Somewhat related:

Peter Albaeck Jensen, the producer of Von Triers films has said in regards to the #metoo campaign: "I wont be frightened into becoming an asexual social democrat" and he states that he will continue to grope his employees, because they like it.

                  • Any news on what Von Trier's working on now? I found Jack to possibly be a bit long, but pretty rewarding (especially when he went to hell).

A new season of The Kingdom. Wasn't there a thread on here in the TV section?

Interesting; I hadn't heard about that. Seems odd to go back to a show from 20 years ago...maybe David Lynch inspired him in some way.

                          • I heartily recommend Riget III (The Kingdom) for those of you who can watch it. Absolute top notch Von Trier, on par with season one and two. It will be available on Mubi in the US from november onwards.

                            • I recall liking Europa the best out of these three films in the set. Think I'm going to go with the Haneke set instead though. Looking forward to the new Kingdom too.
