Haha...Shia and Defoe would get a reaction for sure, I wouldn't be surprised if Von Trier went in that direction. I remember when I saw Crash in the mainstream theatre in town and everyone sat there in silence during all the sex scenes EXCEPT for when Spader and Koteas have sex and then they freaked out with cries of disgust, etc. So: humping a disfigured leg, okay, gay sex, not okay.
I think that our society is kind of pretend-liberal when it comes to pornography, there's certainly still a stigma around it or even just films with overt sexuality. American films are very chaste today compared to the 70s or even 80s, in the 70s almost every drama had an obligatory sex scene and as we all know you couldn't make a teen comedy in the US without at least one boob shot in the 80s.Last edited by Randy G; 02-10-2013, 06:27 PM.

And apparently Von Trier is going to be using CGI to put 'stars' faces onto players in the hardcore scenes in then movie.
"We shot the actors pretending to have sex and then had the body doubles who really did have sex and in post we will digital impose the two. So above the waist it will be the star and the below the waist it will be the doubles."

The PR machine for Nymphomaniac is going in some unusual directions.
