Mine arrived today. How does MM decide which releases get a red case or a black case? This one is black, DON'T OPEN TILL CHRISTMAS was red. Some in the past have been the same way.

Your DON'T OPEN was red? Damn, mine was black. I love the red cases, I really hope COUNTESS has one, it would go wonderfully with the cover.
Great review, Ian. I'm adding it to the list of reviews on MM's blog. (Just yours and Mondo Digital's so far. Anyone seen any others?) Thanks!

Thanks Jared. My Don't Open was red too.

I'm tempted to swap out the black case MM releases using some Evil Angel cases (which are all red) because they'd look rad on the shelf, but then the OCD collector in me says 'NO! LEAVE IT AS IS!'

Endured this one yesterday. My disc stopped working about an hour in but I won't be exchanging it. I figure it just saved me half an hour. Objectively speaking, the single least competent feature I have ever seen. And I've seen a lot of Franco's and spend a lot of time at festivals watching shot on video stuff by film students.

There's an element to which I almost feel exploited by this release. It's Mondo Macabro, it's euro cult, no ones releasing anything at the moment so there's no way I'm not going to buy it. I just didn't expect to get this. In an ideal world obviously every film gets a DVD release from a company who cares as much as Mondo Macabro but as we don't live in that world I've got to wonder if this film is worthy of that. The people making this film would appear not have to cared about it and had only a basic rudimentary knowledge of how to put a film together so why release this when there are so many great films still sitting on the shelf?

With this one following closely on the heels of Sinner I'll be a lot more cautious in my Mondo Macabro purchases in future.

Sorry to hear you didn't like this one, Dom. Also sucks that your copy stopped working. I haven't heard about any other cases like this, so I hope yours is the only one. To be honest, GIRL isn't one of my favorites either, whether as a MM release or a "euro-cult" movie. But "the single least competent feature" you've ever seen? Wow, that's harsh. Personally, I've seen many, many dozens worse. But to each their own. Didn't like SINNER either, eh? Top 20 Franco for me. How did you like LORNA? Don't give up on MM. They have some really great and unexpected things in the works. Stay tuned. But blind buying always has its risks, so maybe read plenty of reviews before you commit!

Lorna was interesting. Not necessarily a great flick but heaps of unusual elements and there's a certain insanity to it all which is all I ask for from MM.

Harsh yes but I'd stand by it. It hurts my brain to watch this film. If you don't see what's wrong then it it's hard for me to explain it without sitting next to you with a remote control but as a single example of what I'm talking about have a look at this cut (video is unlisted by the way):

                http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dp-uV...ature=youtu.be

Pretty much every minute has some major technical gaffes that turn my brain inside out while I'm watching. Franco might play fast and loose with the zoom lens and not be the greatest focus puller but he has an understanding at a base level of how you construct a film. That's not here in a way that I think is quite unique.

Your guess is as good as mine, I was curious how many were done black so I pulled out all of my MM which I own all I think.
The ones that are clear used to be black.

I seem to be one of the few who like this film. Mondo Macabro scores again!

I can't imagine this film, no matter how shitty, can out-crap the likes of Manos or Andy Milligan.

I don't understand this lukewarm attitude to GIRL IN ROOM 2A. Not a top 10 giallo but I really liked it. Wasn't to keen on it when I watched the lousy fullscreen video print some 5-6 years ago but thought it worked much better on this excellent DVD presentation, where you actually could see what was going on. Felt like hybrid a hybrid between gialli and US drive in horror, which is fine by me since I like both, but perhaps the problem is people were expecting something like a Martino or Miraglia flick? Anyway, if this is the worst film you guys have ever seen, I envy you.

Not even close to bottom of the barrell. Not a Giallo high point maybe but I enjoyed it and the DVD is really slick.

And whats wrong with andy milligan? I know he isn't to everybody's taste but I think the guy made some really interesting films considering how little money he had to use

A lot of things are wrong with Andy Milligan, as evident in his films (which I find fascinating).
