Hello All!
I am stateside in the USSA. I want this X-RATED release and do NOT want to give Code Red a single penny. I checked at D&T and they charge horrendous shipping and bank charge fees simply for ordering this one item from Austria. Whole thing would end up costing me $65.00! DiabolikDVD is not carrying the X-RATED version because they are whores for Bill Olsen and do whatever he asks of them in such matters. Does anyone have any suggestions for resources wherein I can procure this import without having to pay $65.00? Thanks! :)
As an aside, I personally feel it is rather slimy and offensive that Bill Olsen/Code Red is suppressing some marginal fringe outlet distribution in North America for the X-RATED issue of the film as the import is markedly distinct, in packaging/data inclusion/film content, from the no frills version that he will undoubtedly issue at some as still unspecified date in the future.Last edited by Vermiis Mortuor; 11-08-2016, 04:19 PM.

Try Austrian companies Beyond-media.at or dvdparadies.at. Also French company sinart.asso.fr.
Alternatively Strangevice.co.uk are like a British Diabolikdvd. If you email them they could tell you details.Last edited by Lalala76; 11-08-2016, 03:04 PM.

I've never paid bank charges from D&T. Is it because you're US based? Order some sweet Camera Obscura releases while you're at it, to make shipping charges a better per item deal. It's one hell of an expensive import anyways, just no way to get around that.

Thanks Lalala76 and thanks also to enandalusiskhund!
I wrote to Strangevice and await reply. I actually placed an order directly with KULT VIDEO in Italy and it appeared that the shipping was free but that was not completely clear through the checkout shipping options. After checkout, I was sent a notification that I should await a further message from KULT VIDEO prior to making payment. I do not know if that is because I chose paypal or because perhaps the disc is not technically available yet but that was several days ago and I have as of yet to hear back from KULTVIDEO so am thinking I perhaps may not. I think the bank fees plus the exorbitant shipping were calculated in correlation with my location, yes, enandalusiskhund. I understand the import itself is expensive, but the shipping and bank fees D&T quoted me exceeded the cost of the import itself and I, unfortunately, do not possess the kind of disposable income tantamount to that type of purchase endeavor.
Jason C., I am sorry for your statement and for your personal insult and I strongly disagree with your inferential assay as a whole. END OF CONVERSATION.Last edited by Vermiis Mortuor; 11-09-2016, 05:48 AM.

i dont think Strange Vice will get it. They havent had any of the X-Rated mediabooks since Sweet Body of Deborah which didnt sell very fast and i think i saw them reduced very much in the end. And it didnt help that they issued a regular version of that one shortly after the Mediabook release.
But it doesnt hurt to ask, after all, what do i know, i cant speak for them

Hello, Bogart. Strange Vice replied with this:
"We have the Giallo A Venzia on order. They are going to be expensive though, I think around £33. Dunno the exact shipping as we don't have them in hand and therefore do not know the exact weight."
He did not indicate any specific or approximate date of availability, however. Nor did he indicate how many pieces that they were intending to stock of the item.

Hah! Just good ole' dead vermin or perhaps an instrument of vermination ... jus' tryin' to be a "regular good man" to quote Mickey Rooney in that film where he plays a geriatric retard with an abscessed diabetic leg as well as abscessed teeth ...Last edited by Vermiis Mortuor; 11-08-2016, 07:54 PM.

I think GIALLO A VENEZIA gets unduly maligned. I actually think it is far and away one of the most unusual and original of the long ago deceased Gialli genre. Landi's direction is so often criticized but it is quite competent and professional and not mechanical. It feels as though he is connected to the material and he seems perfectly capable of working well with actors and eliciting substantive and convincing performances from his cast here. The more clinical, "neo-realist" style fits the material. In my view, a very dark, morbid, and complex psychological narrative such as we have embodied within the GIALLO A VENEZIA script would not work well with a very self-conscious and gimmicky Argento or Martino style at all and would actually detract from the best qualities this film's narrative possesses. The script itself, I feel, is truly excellent. The characterizations and how they are integral to the overarching themes in the film are far more complex than they are often given credit to be. The Fabio/Flavia relationship is truly disquieting and unnerving and the actors acquit themselves extraordinarily well, particularly Leonora Fani. That hottie could actually act and she was more than capable of an impressive performance, just watch her in PENSIONE PAURA, for example. Her role in GIALLO A VENEZIA is also a very difficult one to pull off. Compare the particulars of her characterization and the extent of her degradation throughout and note how she interprets it all and expresses it and try to seek out a comparable characterization and performance in some Hollywood garbage that does not go way overboard with pretentious overacting and concurrently take far fewer ultimate risks than Fani takes here. The whole dynamic of the newlywed couple's relationship is harrowing and depressive and is fascinating to 'dissect' and 'explore'. The 'love' obsessed "philosophy student" (gotta love that nuance!) serial murderer characterization is also impressive and I thoroughly enjoy how the actor translates his euphoric sadism such as when, despite panic and a gunshot injury, he must allow himself to still pause in hesitation to watch his victim burn alive. I also adore that he does what he does so effectively despite his eyes being obscured through mirrored sunglasses, too.
Wonderful that this transgressive masterpiece is finally being restored!Last edited by Vermiis Mortuor; 11-08-2016, 08:17 PM.

This is apparently out now, but D&T haven't sent my order yet. Have you seen any impressions anywhere?
