Actually I was referring to the supposedly uncut Austrian release. But yeah, the scenes in the long version of the film are not distributor inserts, but rather scenes that were shot for the film by the director, but cut before the Italian premiere. So if CR are lucky they'll still be intact in the OCN (if that is what they're indeed scanning).

In that case, the cut scenes would be great to have as an option.

I've only ever seen this in Italian with no subs, but I remember thinking it was like a porno with a couple brutal murders near the end. The only thing I really liked was the killer's sunglasses, because it added an element of sleaze. I also remember thinking the cinematography was flat and the camera basically never moved. Was this shot in scope, because maybe that was the problem (seeing it in fullscreen). I'm a huge fan of the same director's PATRICK VIVE ANCORA.
Why would anybody watch a scum show like Videodrome? Why did you watch it, Max?

Patrick Still Lives has some sparing use of EC Comics' style colors. Landi was your typical hack, not too dissimilar from his contemporaries like Andrea Bianchi.

There's another Giallo with a killer that has a pair of sunglasses like the one in Giallo In Venice. That flick is Watch Me When I Kill. Not a big fan of that one personally, but some people dig that one.

Yes, the sickly green lighting in PATRICK is memorable, and I like the comparison to EC; it's a bit like an outrageously lurid comic book. It gives me an unusual, queasy feeling whenever I watch it.

Sweet! Still no sign of what label is releasing it though?

I was told it was coming from X-Rated. The trailer has been uploaded by Filmliebhaber1000. If you check the channel, they have uploaded the trailers of the movies available on blu from X-Rated.

That definitely looks better than the torrent I have! The violence is particularly gruesome.

Wasn't Germany one of the countries that gave companies releasing horror movies legal grief? Is that a thing of the past now?

I'm also a bit sceptical of some of the Austrian labels, X Rated being one of them actually, since during the DVD days almost all releases were bootlegs, ripped from Italian DVD's and sometimes even VHS. I'm guessing this is legit though, since where would X Rated get hold of a HD source, if not from the rights holders? If this is English friendly I'd much rather buy it than the CR release. Trying my best to boycott Bill if there are viable alternatives released elsewhere.

Agreed. This is the first HD or even remastered SD source in the world for Giallo in Venice. This flick has never been officially released anywhere and there hasn't been some secret TV airing with a cleaned up print either.

All of X-Rated blu-ray releases are legit, including this. But I doubt Giallo will be English friendly.

I'm hoping for subs. I don't care if it's in German. If not, well I'm sure the fans will come through with an English-friendly option.
