  • Full Moon Features releasing Naked Girl Killed In The Park on blu-ray!

This is a decent giallo imo. I'll hold off until I read some disc reviews though.

Full Moon Features will add to its Blu-ray catalog Alfonso Brescia's thriller Naked Girl Killed in the Park a.k.a. Ragazza tutta nuda assassinata nel parco (1972), starring Robert Hoffmann, Irina Demick, Pilar Velí¡zquez, Adolfo Celi, Philippe Leroy, and Patrizia Adiutori. Currently, the release is set to arrive on the market on February 9.

Label description: From Italian exploitation film director Alfonso Brescia (WAR OF THE ROBOTS, THE BEAST IN SPACE) comes NAKED GIRL MURDERED IN THE PARK, a rarely seen 1972 giallo thriller filled with sex, nudity and style to burn. When a millionaire is found dead in a rickety amusement park ride, his less-than-savory family stands to inherit his vast fortune. Naturally, the insurance company investigates, setting forth a serpentine series of double-dealings, dark secrets revealed...and gruesome murders! Once the titular deceased (and indeed, naked) dame shows up, all bets are off as twists follow turns, throats are cut and bodies brutalized, climaxing in an outrageous carnage-filled carnival finale.

Starring such Eurogenre talents as Robert Hoffman (A BLACK VEIL FOR LISA, SPASMO), Irina Demick (Richardo Freda's TRAGIC CEREMONY) and Adolfo Celi (Mario Bava's DANGER: DIABOLIK) and featuring a sensual score by Carlo Savina (Bava's LISA AND THE DEVIL), NAKED GIRL MURDERED IN THE PARK has long been available only via heavily censored bootlegs ripped from shoddy VHS sources. Now, Full Moon is thrilled to be presenting this sleek and sexy shocker TOTALLY UNCUT and FULLY REMASTERED from the original 35mm camera negative.

I wish I liked this one more. I find it a pretty tough slog. Extremely convoluted, and dull Robert Hoffman doesn't help in the lead. There are some good actors in support, Philippe Leroy, Adolfo Celi and Franco Ressel, but Brescia's direction is very uninspired. I only have a poor ETC copy and that doesn't help but I'd have to give it a lot of thought to upgrade (assuming the disc is quality).
I don't go to church. Kneeling bags my nylons.

The movie itself is sorta fun, with a surprise that took me by surprise (although it shouldn't have, since I've watched a lot of gialli before, including this flick on VHS). However, I doubt you'll be seeing any reviews from websites that most likely reciprocate their complementary DVD's and Blu-rays with positive reviews, because they wouldn't be able to fake this one.

I watched my DVD last night, and while the picture quality was decent, the audio was abysmal. It sounded as if it was coming out of one of those early 70's transistor radios that's about the size of a large brownie (if you had one, you know what I mean). I considered that it could be because I didn't get the Blu-ray, but similar critiques on Amazon convinced me otherwise. I checked my old trade copy (which was probably taken from a VSoM dupe), and the audio on that - while pretty poor - was superior.

Folks, since I have fairly low standards, you may not want to trust me when I give a positive assessment of these products, but you surely can when I opine on something being pretty much trash. By comparison, this release makes VCI stuff seem like Criterion! I can't imagine I will ever again purchase a Full Moon offering that isn't one of their own productions.
              VHS will never die!

I have read several comments at the Blu-Ray forums that also said the audio was terrible, Lorne. I'm glad I hadn't planned on getting this anyway - don't like the film enough - now I'll give it a wide pass.

I should also have mentioned that there is no closed captioning, which would have made it easier to discern the dialogue, as would have English subtitles for the frequent instances of characters suddenly speaking in Italian!

Yeah, it's pretty bad on the Blu. Which is even more odd than watching a VHS with bad sound because the PQ is pretty solid, it's jarringly incongruous. I was able to tweak it just a bit with my equalizer, but it's still bad. I picked it up for $8.50 during their last sale even after reading about the issues, and i'm still OK with it because i don't have any other copy for this one. But it is pretty bad, kind'a hollow sounding.

                      From the FM FB page:

"“We've come to realize that the English audio track provided to us, while being the best currently available, is less-than-ideal. And after carefully considering this issue and its impact on our customers and fans, we've determined that the best solution is to strike a new version of the film, using the original Italian audio track with English subtitles.

We are now creating an alternate master using the Italian audio (English subtitled) and we will send you a factory sealed replacement copy of this release. You can keep the existing English version, naturally.

Please allow a few weeks for us to work through this. Thank you for your patience and continued support of our company and our new line of reasonably priced, remastered European genre films on Blu-ray and DVD!”"

I love how they use reasonably priced as a justification for being shoddy.
I'm bitter, I'm twisted, James Joyce is fucking my sister.

Could be worse, Code Red is shoddy and not reasonably priced!

That won't fit through the letterbox.
