I didn't notice any shifts in quality. I'm not even close to an expert either but wasn't the pal speed up thing done away with on blu-ray or am I completely wrong?

Anyway, I turned off all the enhancement settings or whatever they're called (motionflow, etc, etc) on my tv and stuff looks better now. Though I haven't rewatched Massacre In Dinosaur Valley yet after doing so.

I'm far from an expert on these kinds of things, but is it possible it was mostly taken from a PAL source (which would move a little quicker)? The PAL 88 Films release - which I own - runs just shy of 84 minutes, while I've read the Severin one is 89 minutes. Perhaps the material making up the uncut print was merely added back in? Does any footage look different from the rest in quality? Just speculating...

Sorry, autocorrect screwed up the site, it's rtings.com, no “a”.

No reviews mention this so maybe there's some fuckery enabled I have to switch off in the tv settings?

The film itself is a real blast. I'd forgotten how fun it is. Sopkiw is a great and charming lead, the gals are hot hot hot (especially the blonde... Yowza!) and the silly humor really works.
Go to ratings.com and put in your TV's model number, you should find the correct calibration settings for it. Also, disable MotionFlow.

No opinion on the color grading.

EDIT: The 88 links need to be right click copy and paste into new tab otherwise they probably won't open.
Again with the incorrect gamma from Severin? WTF

anything special about them? I can't remember anymore.
In reference to CANNIBAL MAN? The Spanish edit removes many of the scenes hinting at homosexuality because of prevailing attitudes in Spain at the time; the export cut eliminates a couple of scenes set in the slaughterhouse.

There's a bit more info in this thread: http://www.rockshockpop.com/forums/s...panish-Blu-ray

This article, in Spanish, is worth reading: https://proyectonaschy.com/2015/04/0...-mas-completa/

The Spanish release is almost certaintly not a bootleg. It contains an 'integral' cut of the film that incorporates the footage exclusive to the Spanish cut (ie, the slaughterhouse scenes) and the footage that was cut from the Spanish release (ie, the scenes hinting at homosexuality). No vintage edit of the film included all of this material, but both are important (ie, the gay subtext, and the scenes emphasising the drudgery of the protagonist's work at the slaughterhouse - and its numbing effect on him).

The original English language export cut had some other differences, as I recall, re-editing a couple of scenes and dropping the intertitles. (I don't think this version has been released on home video since prior to the Redemption VHS release of the 1990s.)

Oh I agree about the cuts. So as far as I'm concerned they both lose. One just looks like it was done by competent people and the other... not.

Yeah, but who wants a cut version? Severin wins for that reason alone.

They were just extended comedy scenes.

the code red blu-ray has a 3-legged dog, check it out:

I have the Geman release & it is the shorter version.

The Spanish version is the same version of the film as the Code Red one but with more extras.
