This is just a 4K upgrade from Arrow's previous release. I think Cinema Paradiso might get a 4K upgrade from it's original 2K release that AArrow did a couple of years ago.

Seeing a great film again after many years is comfort food. DeSica's classic is a reminder how exceptional cinema can come from the simplest of premises.

Here, it's a man, his son and a bike. Of course, Antonio's (Lamberto Maggiorani) predicament symbolized the struggles of post-war Europe where a man's pride and self-worth could be measured in something as elementary as a job. The way his boy Bruno (an expressive Enzo Staiola) silently looks at him reveals volumes.

It's that unadorned, yet profound humanity that makes it a touchstone for many a lifelong cinefile - including myself.
