  • Some BIG news for Hammer fans!

Received an interesting little email today...

    The Vampire Lovers -- Blu-ray -- September!

...that's all I can say for now. ;)

Apart from the fact that it should be sourced from MGM's HD master, that previously made its debut on the US DVD release.

This is an Aussie release I'm guessing?

Why yes...yes it is. I don't have a lot of info at present, but the BD will feature the audio commentary, trailer and Ingrid Pitt reading from the US MGM release. With all of that I put two and two together and figured out they'll be using MGM's HD master (as the whole package features the MGM materials). September is a tentative, hence no finite data more than the above.

I'll see if I can get some more data about the release (like region-coding) and get back to you all on this one ASAP. Once I get the okay to say more...I will. :)

Well, Sept. isn't that far off, you'd think if they've got it coming they'll make an official announcement soon. I'd be happy to get a good HD upgrade of this one.

The only foreseeable drawback I can think of is that the cover is going to look like this:

Got a feeling they're going to region code that one. But.... I'm region free so I don't care.

That has the potential to look great in HD, it's a really lavish looking movie.

Erm, silly misunderstanding! Oops! Specs posted were incorrect - flyer came from a pre-release catalogue.

Apologies for all the edited posts, but there was a bit of misinformation circulated that all proved false. More anon.

I'm hoping that press release is mistaken about the aspect ratio.

There's a bit of delay between my correspondence with the distro; so we'll have to sit patient until an update. ;)

In other high def Hammer news, Kim Newman just posted this on his Twitter account:

"I've just done an interview for the Quatermass and the Pit BluRay special edition. Now, my flat is being used as a location."
