        THE EVIL OF FRANKENSTEIN

THE MONSTER IS BACK – AND NO ONE CAN STOP HIM!
Legendary horror icon Peter Cushing returns as the Baron in this gloriously gothic entry in Hammer’s highly successful Frankenstein series. Discovering his monster entombed in a block of ice, the Baron hatches plans for its resurrection. But to revive the brain-dead creature, he is forced to enlist the aid of an unscrupulous fairground hypnotist named Zoltan – who sees an opportunity to use the monster to exact murderous revenge against his enemies. The Baron soon finds himself fighting for control of his creature, climaxing in a shocking, fiery, battle to the death.Directed by famed Oscar winning cinematographer, Freddie Francis, THE EVIL OF FRANKENSTEIN is not only a spine-chilling throwback to the Universal Studios classic but a slice of British cult cinema guaranteed to satisfy diehard horror aficionados and thrill-seekers alike!

        PARANOIAC!

        Shocking! Horrifying! Macabre!
“A suspenseful and smartly paced opus.” Variety
In the 1960’s, inspired by the success of PSYCHO, the legendary Hammer House of Horror produced a number of psychological thrillers scripted by screenwriter Jimmy Sangster.Sangster’s ultimate puzzle picture, PARANOIAC!, told the disturbing tale of the Ashby siblings gathering to claim their late parent’s inheritance. The appearance of a long dead brother, a decade after his apparent suicide, unearths a history of obsessive and sadomasochistic relationships… and quite possibly murder!Showcasing an early, explosive performance from Oliver Reed and boasting countless plot twists to keep horror fans guessing until the final frame, PARANOIAC! stands proudly as one of Hammer’s darkest and most sinister thrillers. But, let’s leave the final word to The New York Mirror: “Idiotically entertaining, provided, of course, that you can find entertainment in blood, gore and lunacy.”

        NIGHTMARE

        SUPERNATURAL OR SUPER-MURDEROUS?
Janet spent her 11th birthday watching her father being stabbed to death by her insane mother. Can you imagine what a thing like that can do to a child? Now, aged 17, she suffers from nightmares so intense that her teachers fear for her sanity and decide that the best plan of action is to return her to the family home. But, the familiar surroundings only help to accentuate her night terrors.Janet fears that she is going mad – and if the disturbing visions aren’t traumatic enough, how will she survive a birthday party with a cake and a very large knife?Boasting a screenplay by Hammer psycho-thriller specialist Jimmy Sangster that, according to The Daily mail, guarantees audiences “One long scream!”NIGHTMARES is an eerie, atmospheric chiller that lays shock upon shock and twist upon twist right up to its breathless climax.

              I don't think so.

              • That's my impression too. It's a little odd since the Hammer name carries a lot of weight in the marketplace.

                • Whilst we're at it, has 'She' (1965) ever had a blu-ray release?

Seems like a noteworthy omission if not.

Nope, not aware of one. I guess Hammer sells as long as it's horror. Might be down to Studio Canal not having an HD master, because I'm sure someone in Germany would have put out 7 mediabooks by now. Shame it's SC and not Columbia, as Powerhouse would no doubt release it considering the obscure Hammer stuff they have put out.

That is indeed a drag, as it's one I would really enjoy revisiting in HD.

The US release is superior as it includes the alternate US version among the extras.

                              • Dr. Jekyll (Joe Stephenson, with Eddie Izzard) has premiered, so sounds like the John Gore Organization Hammer's a go. Interesting to see what a largely theatrical owner does with it; presumably they bought it for the IP, and I for one look forward to the Captain Clegg musical. Let those skeletons dance! Some remarks from the premiere on youtube.
