got an email that my copy shipped and a tracking number, hope to have it someday next week. I have not seen this movie in a few years, I remember loving it though. Joe D'Amato is one of the few directors I think that can make a movie with hardcore in it, that still works as a regular movie. Most movies that have hardcore usually it seems kind of out of place, I think mainly because in European films, those hardcore scenes were often filmed by some other director, and spliced in 2 years later or something and it seems weird. But Laura Gemser was the first woman I saw naked, I remember in the movie Emanuelle in Bangkok on Joe Bob's Drive in Theater on the movie channel, I used to stay up and watch him and see all kinds of trash cinema back then, it started me down the path to being obsessed with naked women in movies lol

finished with watching all the extras, and watching Emanuelle in America in both English and Italian with English subtitles. I never watch the movie I get in a foreign language if the English dub is available, but I decided to watch this one in Italian, and with the subs, there were some differences in the translation between Italian and English, not major differences that affected the plot, but it was kind of neat to see they didn't have a direct copy between the 2 languages. This blu ray was a great purchase, I'd recommend it to anyone into Euro trash, it's got hardcore, but if that doesn't bother you, I think it's well worth seeing, the hardcore was not like porn now, where it last 30 minutes, it is just brief. I liked the lobby cards, and booklet, I liked the reverse artwork better I think, the artwork with the women in the swimming pool. I hope Mondo Macabro can release Night of the Zombies made in 1981 and starring Jamie Gillis, I used to have it on VHS, it was very poor video quality, I would love to see that movie in HD quality on blu ray. It is kind of a forgotten film I think, I don't think it is on DVD or blu ray, or is it? I've never seen it for sale anywhere. But it definitely needs a legit release. It was more like a film you'd want to watch late at night kind of film.

It's my experience that most dubs are somewhat different to the original dialogue. Often a direct translation requires more - or fewer - words and it wouldn't fit their mouth movements.

I finally bit the bullet and bought the blu-ray. As a first time viewing experience, it was definitely something that won't be forgotten. I still don't understand what D'Amato was trying to achieve with this film. It changes course so many times that I got whiplash by the end of it. Fair play to him though - it's a product of it's time that could've killed another director's career overnight.

Also, the D'Amato interview was a lot of fun. He seemed like a really sweet guy with a joyously fucked up imagination.

Got my copy and rewatched it. Maybe I was drunk when I first watched it as I don't recall so much hardcore sex and the fake snuff scene being so long. Let's face it, the soundtrack is better than the movie, but it is certainly the most watchable of the black Emmanuelle films by a wide margin.

Emanuelle in America I don't think was trying really hard to "be something " other than a porn movie with beautiful scenery beautiful women and does it really take much more than that to sell movie tickets? I mean over 40 years later we are buying it on blu ray and pretending we are shocked by the sex in it.

I wasn't shocked by the sex stuff, but I had to look away when Pedro was standing to attention, so to speak. Even the more uninformed types who went to see what they thought was one of those Emmanuelle movies that couples get off on were probably a bit stunned by all the breast slicing and dildos full of boiling oil.

Haha yeah I think Joe d'amato might have spoiled some couples nights if they were expecting the original Emmanuelle but if a couple would go see the original Emmanuelle I kind of doubt they'd be the kind of couple turned off by the stuff in Emanuelle in America lol. The whole movie was exploitation film making at its best. It is always a good idea when your movie seems to be lagging a bit just throw in some spread pussy or some hard cock lol
