  • Severin Films Releasing Shocking Dark (aka Terminator II)

    From FB:

"Courtesy of Severin Films! We're excited to announce that Italian cult filmmaking team of Claudio Fragasso and his wife Rossella Drudi will be appearing at our May 4-6, 2018 event!

While the couple are best known for Troll 2 as featured in Best Worst Movie - Troll 2 Documentary, Severin presents their appearance at TFW in celebration of their upcoming Blu Ray releases of SHOCKING DARK aka TERMINATOR 2 and more!

Fragasso has co-written (with Rossella Drudi) the scripts for many horror movies that were directed by the infamous Bruno Mattei, including Zombie 3, The Other Hell, Rats: Night of Terror, Hell of the Living Dead, Robowar, The True Story of the Nun of Monza and Emanuelle Escapes from Hell among others. Fragasso also co-directed a few of Mattei's films with him, including The Seven Magnificent Gladiators, Zombie 3, Zombie 4: After Death, Scalps, White Apache, The Other Hell, Hell of the Living Dead and Rats: Night of Terror.

Nice. This is probably the last great bad Bruno movie.

What about MONDO CANNIBAL? That one had me in stitches!
Why would anybody watch a scum show like Videodrome? Why did you watch it, Max?

I beg to differ. I thought all his later day films (post 2000) were totally entertaining. THE JAIL is 300% exploitation goodness. WIP, cannibals, horror, Filipino action all thrown into one juicy stew. :gory:

Yes but Shocking Dark has an advantage for being shot on FILM. All of his later movies, while entertaining, were all shot on a cheap DV camcorder. There's just that something about an awesomely bad movie that was shot on film as opposed to DV.

True. Especially his two cannibal movies almost have a porn movie feel to them because of their being shot on video.

True...what was the snuff movie film 'snuff trap? If that had been shot on film and 20 years earlier that would be considered a cult title. I also think Mattei was more at home with action...strike commando was a cool film

This, those films can also be sometimes even more entertaining than his earlier stuff.

SHOCKING DARK: For director Bruno Mattei (VIOLENCE IN A WOMEN'S PRISON) and co-writers Claudio Fragasso & Rossella Drudi (TROLL 2), their final - and most notorious - collaboration went beyond brazen plagiarism to become a fearless act of deranged genius: In this bravura rip-off of both ALIENS and TERMINATOR, a team of badass marines, a tough female civilian and an orphaned girl battle monsters beneath the Venice canals while being chased by an indestructible killer cyborg. Have we mentioned the overwrought dialogue, over-the-top performances and ultimate WTF twist ending? Geretta Geretta (DEMONS) and Tony Lombardo (RATS: NIGHTS OF TERROR) star in this “schlockfest of awesome” (Cool Target) - actually released outside the U.S. as TERMINATOR II and ALIENATORS and never before available in America - now scanned in 2k from the Director's Cut negative discovered in a Rome lab vault.

                        SHOCKING DARK Special Features:

                        ● Terminator in Venice - Interview with Co-Director / Co-Screenwriters Claudio Fragasso and Co-Screenwriter Rossella Drudi
                        ● Once Upon A Time in Italy - Interview With Actress Geretta Geretta
                        ● Alternate Italian Titles

That trailer is pretty awesome & it looks like their site has crashed. All three look awful & fun but I doubt I'll order the bundle. I'll wait until there are reviews, sales, etc. I got another big ticket item I need to order first...
