  • Thriller: They Call Her One Eye Gets New 4k Restortation

This is screening at the Alamo Drafthouse in South Lamar, Austin with Christina Lindberg in attendance!

    https://drafthouse.com/austin/show/t...berg-in-person

U.S. premiere of a brand new 4K restoration from the Swedish Film Institute with star Christina Lindberg in person!

Content warning: This movie contains brief scenes of suggested sexual molestation and sexual violence.

There are regular movies. And then there is THRILLER: THEY CALL HER ONE EYE. A direct inspiration for Quentin Tarantino's KILL BILL, and the movie that Tarantino famously cited as, “The roughest revenge picture of all time,” THRILLER is an unforgettable collision between pop-art pulp and gritty ultra-violence. It's also one of the most influential exploitation movies of all time, mostly due to the iconic and empowering presence of star Christina Lindberg. We're honored to present the U.S. premiere of a new 4K restoration of THRILLER from the Swedish Film Institute, and beyond honored to welcome Christina Lindberg -- in person! -- to discuss her iconic role and legendary career. (Joseph A. Ziemba)

I don't know too much about this film, although I have seen it. Were there hardcore inserts put into the film after the fact, or for the film? Do they belong in there?

I doubt we'll be seeing this on disc after Vibenius went for Don May because he thought the tenuous Kill Bill link made this film worth a fortune. I bet he'd get on well with Rubinstein.

There are two versions... with and without the hc scenes. The with version is Thriller, the without is called They Call Her One Eye.

I was just reading up to find out if Bo wanted those inserts in there, and it looks like he did, to capitalize on the popularity of porn. I do recall that those inserts looked out of place in the film, aside from being surprising.

The HC inserts are obvious and don't work well, but unfortunately the eye gouge scene isn't as intense in the r-rated version. A lot of Christina Lindberg's nudity is cut as well. So while the HC shots are distracting I prefer the uncut version because other important scenes loose their edge. It's tempting to work on a fan edit.

They were shot for the film so I tend to think they belong there. I prefer that version anyway. Those scenes really take the ugly vibe to another level. Kind of a bummer that they don't seem to be included in this restoration.

Those porn inserts are about as erotic as :bp:

I never liked this one. I gave it at least 2-3 chances too.

It is somewhat overrated, but I think it's alright.
Why would anybody watch a scum show like Videodrome? Why did you watch it, Max?

Inserts aside, I think that what i disliked most about this was the extreme overuse of slow-mo. it's been years, though, so who knows.

That's the first thing I think about when I hear about They Call Her One Eye and why I wouldn't see it in the theater. Even 1.5 FFW doesn't speed those scenes up enough. It's excruciating.

That is kind of stupid but overall I still really enjoyed it. It was a long time ago when I saw it so I don't know if it'd have the same effect on the "now" me.

If I make it up north, we can totally watch it with Ian's parents and see what we think.
