    Coming 1/30/17...

There's a new attraction in town that's not for the fainthearted. A wax museum that recreates, for the thrills of a paying audience, some of the most gruesome murders ever committed by human hands.

A young man makes a bet with his friends that he can spend an entire night in the museum but he is found dead the morning after. Who is the savage slayer? The police are unable to come up with a reason or a clue to identify the murderer. Weirdly enough, the museum starts featuring new murder scenes as the killing spree increases. Is the metal-clawed killer that haunted Paris years ago, prowling the streets of Rome, looking for fresh flesh and blood?

    Special Features:

    Backstage scenes
    Special effects scenes
    Rock! Shock! Pop!

        Isn't this a bootleg outfit?

Wax Mask is not very good despite a good beginning. It's a bittersweet film because you can see the ghost of Fulci in there but it never ascends to be something good.

That cover is all types of awful. Wonder if they will even use a remasterd 2k scan.

This'll probably be an upscale. One 7 are indeed bootleggers, same people that were behind Mya.

They were also associated with No Shame. Actually I don't believe they are bootleggers. That charge seems to be leveled against them when they get the rights to a film that someone else wanted or they believed they controlled. Now as the quality, well they use whatever source material they can find and often they are bad prints or videotapes. I suspect WAX MASK will be at least a film print.

                Additional information:

Wax Mask, produced by Dario Argento, should have been Italian horror master Lucio Fulci's last stand. Unfortunately he passed away before the shooting could start. Since the project was in an advanced stage of development, it was handed over to gore special effects maestro Sergio Stivaletti, at the time very close to Fulci, for his feature-length director debut. Presented in all new restored version, Wax Mask is available for the first time ever in high definition, along with never-before-seen extras shot back in the day on set during production.

                Special Features:

                Backstage Scenes
                Special Effects Scenes

                Review Quotes:

Gothic horror is alive and kicking in "Wax Mask," a luridly entertaining return to the style of Britain's Hammer productions. Directed by Italian f/x maestro Sergio Stivaletti, this turn-of-the-century terror tale has been heavily sold in Europe, Asia and Latin America, and should scare up its share of nostalgic genre fans, especially on video. Pic is at least the third screen scarefest derived from Gaston Leroux's "The Wax Museum," previously filmed by Michael Curtiz as "Mystery of the Wax Museum" in 1933 and by Andre de Toth in the 1953 3-D version "House of Wax," starring Vincent Price -Variety

                8 out of 10.

                    Full press release:

WAX MASK: In the mid-'90s, Dario Argento approached a physically and professionally ailing Lucio Fulci to direct one final production, an over-the-top shocker about grisly murders at a Paris wax museum. But when Fulci passed away only weeks before filming began, Argento turned to Sergio Stivaletti - the FX genius on PHENOMENA, OPERA, DEMONS and CEMETARY MAN - to make his feature-directing debut. Original Grand Guignol director/performer Robert Hossein (RIFFIFI) and Aldo Massasso (CONTRABAND) star in what DVD Drive-In hails as “old-timey luridness married to state-of-the-art gore” - from a screenplay co-written by Fulci with cinematography by Sergio Salvati (ZOMBIE, THE BEYOND) - now featuring a 4k scan from the original negative supervised by Stivaletti and packed with Special Features that include rare behind-the-scenes footage, all-new interviews and more.

WAX MASK is available in both a Standard Edition and Limited Edition (4000 units) which includes an Exclusive Slip Case and Bonus Soundtrack CD. Bundles will also be available from the Severin webstore containing a Lenticular 5x7 Art Print, key chain and sticker.

Bad movie with a few good moments. The English dub is awful. The female lead is gorgeous.
Why would anybody watch a scum show like Videodrome? Why did you watch it, Max?

I'm all over this one. Didn't want to support the shady Mya/One7 people with their blu-ray release. It's an entertaining film.
