    Nucleus Films Campaign Update

Apologies for the lack of updates for a while, but we've been very busy working on these releases and they are shaping up beautifully.

We recently had an update from the Italian lab, advising us that the Lady Frankenstein restoration is nearly complete. We hope to receive the master within the next four to six weeks. We really had no idea the amount of time and effort this master has taken to painstakingly restore. We'll post screen captures as soon as it arrives at the Nucleus Films HQ. We can then begin the task of authoring both discs and eventually get them out to you all!

Rest assured, in the meantime we've been very busy shooting brand new extras for both titles. We also just completed the scanning and restoration of the beautiful set of Italian fotobustas for Lady Frankenstein, which we have attached to this update.

We're desperately searching for a complete set of Italian fotobustas and posters for Death Laid an Egg/La morte ha fatto l'uovo. Also searching for UK quad posters for Lady Frankenstein. Can you help? We will happily scan any materials supplied and return them.

Or if you have anything else from around the world (posters, still, artwork, articles) you feel would be a worthwhile addition to these discs, then please get in touch, as we'd love to hear from you.

    Thanks for your patience,
    Marc & Jake

Lady Frankenstein is pretty frickin great. I have a big ass old swedish cinema poster framed hanging in my kitchen. My mom hates it and never misses an opportunity to tell me so when she visits.

A backhanded bit of good news, looks like sometime in September we can expect our bounty.
From the Indigogo page, an offer to buy both titles, delivered in Sept 2017 :)

Without a doubt. They will be available for a while yet in whatever form. They are not going to do all the work behind the scenes and then make it unavailable for sale. Which is why a lot of these L.E.s are B.S. and your just paying a lot more for a bit of extra cardboard. They do it to get more money in up front rather than people waiting around to buy it (or to take money from stupid people)

Hey, it's actually a good thing labels have learned how to make back their investment early on with niche releases. If it weren't for suckers like us, who support the small players and encourage releases of very non-commercial films, all we'd have right now would be Netflix. And the chance that the streaming giants would pay good money to restore and release Death Laid an Egg to the joy of a few thousand customers, if that, is less than zero. The film fans who always wait for extreme price drops before buying, are the real stupid people, at least if they enjoy these cult releases.

I just want gimmick-free releases and the stampede for bits of cardboard just annoys me. So there

That is exactly what these are, fully loaded with commentaries and special features, and new scans of the films from their OCN's.

You seem to be refering to other companies releases?

Won't make a long argument about it, but I think your way off.

With the current retailprices most companies go for today, you either get a few releases or you get some more by trying to make some great deals here and there, and that means waiting for some overpriced released (which most are)

No im referring to the slipcase gimmick and false "limited" status when in fact its just the cardboard which is. but no matter just my opinion, im not going to get excited about some cardboard. especially as these things will be worth nothing when everyone is streaming with ease in true HD at some point in the future and all movies cease having any value except through the revenue from the adverts which are tagged on at the beginning like youtube videos.

edit: guess im in a mood today

I'm not sure why people keep saying that "everyone will be streaming" and things to the that effect: its not like my physical collection is going to vanish into thin air just because the majority of people are streaming. It may be the only way to see new films (outside of theaters and VOD) but it doesn't mean I won't still have all of the DVDs and Blu-rays I've acquired over the years. It isn't about what they're worth, either; I don't care because I'm not planning on selling them.
Why would anybody watch a scum show like Videodrome? Why did you watch it, Max?

Some people, not pointing fingers at anyone here, seem to think millennials are going to sneak into their homes to destroy their BD/DVD collections and erase their digital downloads. Then they're going to wakeup to see all their shit destroyed but there's going to be a Netflix/Hulu/Shudder/Amazon Prime coupon left in their wake with a scrawled message "Too bad fucker!" Left behind.

Between the quality difference and the maddeningly impermanent library of Netflix, if I really care about something I buy the disc. With bandwidth in much of The World not even up to a proper 1080p with 5.1 HD audio stream, physical won't die off for a long time, and honestly, most of the “Death to physical media!” Types I have encountered seem to be the kind who don't really value quality.

Video games, however, I have gone almost completely digital, as there is no difference in quality and I love the convenience.
