I love this movie...but the US version? Seriously? Sigh....I'll still pick it up.

Is the US version butchered like Argento's US versions used to be?

It seems the US cut is about 11 or 12 minutes shorter. That sounds pretty butchered to me.

I assume some asshole thought it was too "talky" and took it upon himself to re-direct it.
It can't be a censor issue since removing the questionable bits would destroy the story...no?

You may be right. DVD Savant said "The absence of explicit nudity, violence and gore kept the export versions of Horrible from suffering the huge censor cuts that gutted many later European productions"

Diabolik has the following note on it: "Due to US rights we will not be carrying the UK edition." With Olive out of the picture, hopefully a corresponding release will be coming from Vinegar Syndrome or Severin or some other like-minded label.
