Massacre in Dinosaur Valley is well worth checking out if you're a fan of Euro Trash films. Great gore, nudity, Michael Sopkiw, and it has a fun comic book aesthetic.

Well, 23 days left and they're at 20,000, so over half way to funding all four titles.

Like it or not, there's a damn good chance this is going to work for them.

88 films are odd....they want fans of these films to help them with their releases financially and yet, if/when they do come out they will sabotage their efforts by probably including liner notes by that malignent cancerous scottish (ahem) "critic/plague" who doesn't like the very films he is asked to write about. I can hear the conversation at 88 films office now:

88 Films #1: Hey, lets get fans to help pay to release some Italian horror films like Joe D'Amato's ABSURD!
88 Films #2: Great idea! We can get Dr. Dick to do some liner notes. He'll write about anything if it gets his name in print. Lets ask him!
        (Phone Scotland)
        Twaddle: Hoots mon!
88 Films: Hey Calum, we are releasing some more films and need your help. Have you got your crayons ready?
Twaddle: Och aye Ah hae. Ah got some extra chunky crayons frae th' poondstair an' did a braw picture fur mammy.
88 Films: Great. We're releasing Joe D'Amato's ABSURD amongst other things and getting the fans to fund it.
Twaddle: Ah hate joe d'amatae films an' his fans ur idiots. Ah ance wrote an essay oan mah website firelecht shocks slaggin' aff his films an' those fa watch them. i'll dae it.
88 Films: Super stuff! The fans will love reading your views.
Twaddle: I've tint mah haggis an' mah bagpipes ur broken.
        (Hang up)
88 Films: Hooray! He'll do it! Lets hope he manages to conceal his contemp for these movies and the fans in the final product.

        Pass.

I heard they might be adding PERFUME OF THE WOMAN IN BLACK as a 5th perk if they hit 50K.
A surprising success for 88 that cannot be denied.

I gotta' admit. For 45 Quid that's a pretty good steal for 4 pieces of semi-classic Euro Trash cinema.

I contributed today. I just wonder about one thing though. Will "Massacre in Dinosaur Valley" actually be uncut and uncensored as advertised by 88 Films? According to IMDB, when it was released in the UK previously on video, nearly 2 minutes were cut, including a cockfight, which is currently a no no in the UK. I just hope 88 Films sets the record straight with regards to a complete version.

Pretty sure the cockfight would atill be missing ( I havent seen the footage in question, but the UK is still atruct with this kind of thing)....maybe they have optically blurred it?

The cockfight is incredibly brief. It makes up maybe 20 seconds if that. If that's the only thing cut then who cares? Just saying.

                            Oh sure...I totally agree.

20 seconds is not much...and I doubt it adds anything substantial to the movie...

But some people ARE hoping to get a completely uncut movie as the original filmakers intended...so for them I think 88 films should be specific about the censorship status of this movie..especially if it IS available elsewhere uncut..false or misleading information shouldnt be allowed whatever the situation or product...

This is what the BBFC cut back in 2002: "Cuts required to sexual and sexualised violence ( forcible removal of woman's underwear and subsequent shots of full nudity; sight of woman's breast being clawed and wounded with resulting flow of blood and collection of blood in a bowl; sight of woman's breast being exposed, her breast being kissed, her loin cloth being undone, her pubic hair being touched and her positive response to a sexual assault; sight of man forcibly tearing open a woman's shirt, revealing her breasts and struggling with her). Cuts made in accordance with BBFC guidelines and policy. Further cuts to sight of cocks attacking each other during a cockfight required in accordance with the Cinematograph Films (Animals) Act 1937." http://bbfc.co.uk/releases/cannibal-ferox-2-2002

The cuts for sexual and sexualised violence will almost certainly be waived these days. Heaps of similar things have made it through unscathed recently. The cockfight will almost certainly be cut though, unless someone can come up with convincing lie about it being faked. The BBFC have been going out of their way to find interpretations of the law that allow as much leeway as possible, but they won't pass anything that's blatantly illegal.
