I've just finished all the extras on the BFI version, this is a great disc. As someone who only knew Larraz from Vampyres and Black Candles, this is a revelation. Such beautiful photography. I didn't really think about the aspect ratio, I was too busy enjoying the film.

Nope, no sign of Symptoms LE here. Haven't got an e-mail yet either, so I presume they haven't started shipping.

Anyone who preordered the Mondo Macabro LE get theirs yet? Kind of annoying that Diabolik has the regular edition in stock already. I guess I'm just really impatient to get this.

Hopefully that post from Pete will be the final word on the ratio question. Satan help us all if this turns into another Blood and Black Lace debacle.
Mondo Digital completely matches my own findings:

The 2K-sourced transfer looks excellent and is presented in a 1.33:1 aspect ratio, which seems to be the most comfortable framing option. It may have been passable projected at 1.66:1 in theaters, but trying to zoom it to 1.78:1 on an HD monitor looks too cramped and often crops actors down to the eyebrows.
Once people actually watch this, it should hopefully be really obvious why 1.33:1 was the only sensible way to go. Why it was framed that way in 1974, who knows, but it's clearly the optimum screening ratio.

I remember a scene with a goat but that's it. I've seen ALOT of bestiality so all of it just blends together

Pre-ordered the red Mondo. Don't want to miss out on those extras I'm never going to bother watching anyway.

Okay, it sounds like it's worth the blind buy. Repulsion came to mind when I watched the video last week or so.

Images, the film directed by Robert Altman? I've never seen it but it sounds like I should.

SYMPTOMS is very, very good. It's very claustrophobic and paranoid, with an excellently eerie use of the English countryside.
