Very good little Italo horror. Often mislabeled as a Giallo when it's actually a supernatural horror film closer to the feeling of a Polanski movie. Makes a great double feature with Spider Labyrinth.

I see this as less supernatural and more of a case of claustrophobic madness and conspiracy. I can see the Polanski comparison (and have heard it before). I think it's a terrific film though, and yes, it's not in the traditional giallo form but at the same time it does have elements of them, and so it probably has a tenuous connection like some other non-traditional films - such as the same director's PENSIONE PAURA (again I'll say I'd love to see that one get a BD release).
I don't go to church. Kneeling bags my nylons.

It's as much a Giallo as Suspriria or Inferno. I think most of us can agree on that.

Looks like they'll beat Raro's endlessly delayed BD to the marketplace.

Got this disc through today, no English subtitles included for the Italian track, just the English dub, rather misleading specs for this one! I suspect the transfer is the same as the Raro, though i'll wait to hear that confirmed by someone who has both.

I didn't even know this was dubbed. I first saw it in Italian with subs on Cinemageddon. Is it a good English dub or is it on par with Jess Franco atrocities?

                88 Films is releasing this...

"THE PERFUME OF THE LADY IN BLACK BLU-RAY & DVD
Director Francesco Barilli's hallucinatory giallo horror-thriller stars Mimsy Farmer who portrays Sylvia, a chemist who begins to suffer from strange visions; a mysterious woman in black applying perfume in a mirror appears to her and strangers follow her everywhere she goes. Barilli's psychological investigation into the workings of the mind becomes apparent when it is revealed that as a child, Sylvia committed a horrible crime. The slow progression from successful scientist to a woman on the verge of insanity shows an in-depth look at the intricacies of the haunted mind. This is a remarkable film, weaving reality, fantasy and memory into an almost seamless fabric.
                More announcements to follow later...."

Farmer does her own voice, which is nice. It's a decent dub.
I'd like to upgrade but Raro's BD is not very attractive, seems they were given a poor quality scan.
It's likely all these BD's use the same source, but who has the best encode?

Yeah, unfortunately Raro's BD does indeed look like a bag of ass - I actually prefer their DVD. Better colour too.
