I think it's the first movie that I've seen told, and occasionally even shot, from the ass's point of view. It was pretty terrible but amusing in its terribleness.

There's an accurate, entertaining and completely NSFW review here.
I saw this one few years back and yeah it's pretty ridiculous, but of course Uncle Jess knew that. I think it's the only one where Romay does anal.

"Exciting news from my friend Alain Petit:

His legendary fanzine series known as THE MANACOA FILES - THE most definitive to-date assemblage of production information, credits and interviews pertaining to the labyrinthine filmography of Jess Franco, printed in such small quantities that copies of the individual volumes have sold for hundreds of dollars on eBay - will be re-published next spring by Artus in a completely illustrated, bilingual (French and English) edition!

The book will contain all of the original publications' texts, upgraded and corrected. Artus (the DVD company responsible for numerous interesting classic Eurocult titles on DVD with Alain's commentary, including THE VAMPIRE OF THE OPERA and BLOODY PIT OF HORROR) is planning to release THE MANACOA FILES in two distinct editions: a standard deluxe edition and a limited numbered edition sold only by subscription, with an exclusive portfolio and what Alain describes as "a very rare film as a DVD bonus (no, it's not SEX CHARADE)."

This must-have item is presently scheduled for an April 15, 2015 release. More details as they are announced"

      • Between Alain's Manacao Files and Vol. 1 of Stephen Thrower's Franco book 2015 will be a great year for literary Franco.

Now if only Severin would give us some Golden Films Franco, and Mondo Macabre would get on that DeNesle series...

The entire January-June line-up is amazing with some brilliant speakers but this should be the best one.

From anyone who isn't in the know, this is Erotic rites of Frankenstein.

A reminder that this was one of the titles that Kino/Redemption originally announced on blu-ray, as The Unclothed version in early 2014

Now, before anyone gets too excited, this is Kino cult ie the Streaming service. there is no official announcement that this will be the promised and Franco preferred unclothed version, nor is it an announcement that a blu-ray is imminent. However this is potentially the first news we have had in about a year regarding this.

And it's a nice sharp image in the proper screen ratio, something I haven't seen before & that is also promising.
Here is hoping this pans out. Steaming may be the only way they can afford to release this at all, so while not preferred it's beats the pants off of it not happening.

                      • I wish the BD releases of this and the other films originally promised would come through, but alas, it looks more and more like the BD versions are dead in the water. A shame :(.

                        • if Kino can't afford to release the Franco film on blu ray I hope they at least release it on DVD, I don't want streaming at all.

                          • From Robert Monell: "It was just confirmed to me that Blu ray releases of Jess Franco's THE SADISTIC BARON VON KLAUS and the notorious uncensored version of THE EROTIC RITES OF FRANKENSTEIN are now being prepared. Early June is the tentative release date for VON KLAUS with RITES following in "Summer 2015". More details will be posted later on my Jess Franco blog."
