A post at Bullets 'n' Babes (I suppose I could have posted this there but...) by Guro Taku inspired me to list all the roman pornos I know that possibly have western actresses in them. I have no idea who they are so I don't know if they are actually "imports" or not. And converting the names into romaji is just... ugh. So, experts here, who are they?

The film opens with two rape scenes and (at least) the second one is something one of the characters views from a tape. Is this from some other movie?

The poster mentions no cast members and neither does any Japanese sources including Nikkatsu's site (they have only what the poster has). No idea if the photos in the poster have anything to do with the movie.
No home video releases as far as I know.

I'm sure Takuma can corroborate what little bio info I have about Sally May. She is a hafu born in Tokyo a couple years after the war with a Japanese mother and American father. Her family owned a restaurant where she would sing for the customers. She was scouted by the lead singer of the Five Suns band & occasionally sang for the multi-racial group, The Sharp Hawks. She was eventually signed by Victor records & produced an enka album which one of my buddies owns a copy. He told me it translates into "blond haired enka" & he paid a dear sum for a mint copy too. I was never particularly interested in her other than her roles in roman porno but I might ask him to burn me a copy now. ^_^

I actually have a reason to believe some films (or at least one... might write more about this later, maybe ) might have the original print uncensored.

I think this scene was supposed to have censoring but the VoD version does not have any. Whether it was censored in cinemas I have no idea. Maybe it was censored earlier but when (I assume) Nikkatsu made the scan for VoD they just didn't realize some of the original negatives were never censored. Or maybe the scene is supposed to be like that.

I also don't think the film is supposed to be 2.35:1 despite various sources saying so. Maybe a little bit more information might be on the sides making it 1.66:1 or something but I just don't think they would have cropped the image at all since the scan is so new.

There is also a lesbian performance which has the women keeping their panties on even though they remove everything else... and the screenshot below just doesn't make much sense to me if there was not supposed to be censoring. But the way they censor these films would mean we wouldn't really see anything in the image (or big parts of the scene) anymore so... eh.



Then again...

(But this is most certainly supposed to be in 2.35:1)

So, the film...

There is an older and younger couple. And the old guy fucks the young woman and the old woman the young guy. But in the end everything is okay again. The end. Several sex scenes. Not much dialogue. Several minute long club/dancing scenes. Some footage of early 70s Stockholm. And the lesbian performance is more than 6 minutes long and basically completely disconnected from the rest of the film. We see the sexshop window, then the performance, and then back to the window and Jim and Anetta watching stuff on display. Takuma would certainly enjoy this. ;)

It looks like the video is in 1080i 29,970fps. What...

I have now checked five of the discs and it seems the back covers are correct. The World of Geisha and Secret Chronicle She Beast Market are 1080i and the other four (or at least the three I have checked) 1080p. I assume Nikkatsu provided Happinet only with the interlaced masters but why...

Btw, you would not know it from looking at the IMDB page of Madam Scandal: Let Me Die For 10 Seconds マダムスã‚ャンダル　１０秒æ»ãªã›ã¦ but it seems it was filmed in Los Angeles and so there are non-Japanese members in the cast and speaking English. Some of the crew was from the USA as well.

That's disappointing that SHE-BEAST MARKET is interlaced as it is my favorite film easily of these five -- to me, at least, a masterpiece!

Still, the Blu should be an improvement on the previous DVD.

I have my fingers crossed that Synapse will put this one out, too, as part of their Nikkatsu Collection, but I hope they don't use the same master.
