I recently got the Happinett Crazed Fruit (ç‹‚ã£ãŸæžœå®Ÿ) (1981) BD. I haven't sat through the whole disc yet, but the picture quality looks alright. 1080i. Quite a bit of black crush, but I'm not too bothered by that. Not perfect by any means, but not the kind of disco pop colour contrast remix abomination like some of the other BDs. I think this looks about the same as the Rolling on the Road BD. And the old DVD was a VHS master anyway, so no point holding on to that one. A couple of quick caps below:
The photo gallery on the disc is once again fantastic. Lots of stills and behind the scenes photos. Almost worth the price alone. A few examples below.
Director Negishi is the young dude on the right.
Ninagawa, Honma, Negishi
Here's a wild guess: could the woman holding the script / shooting plan be Akane Shiratori (白鳥ã‚ã‹ã)???

Of the upcoming pink films on blu ray from Japan, I am most interested in "Flower and Snake: Sketch of Hell"( 1985), a truly sleazy and entertaining S&M film, with a great ending and "A Woman Called Sada Abe"(1975), a terrific, stylish soft core movie based on the same notorious historical case as "In the Realm of the Senses"(1976)!

Kim Stim, an imprint of Image, released "A Woman Called Sada Abe" as a snapper DVD. There seems to be no date on the packaging. The Hong Kong label Panorama released a five-DVD box set Flower and Snake: The Ultimate Edition, which included "Flower and Snake: Sketch of Hell" with English subtitles, as the third disc ("Flower and Snake 3") in 2008. These discs were released individually as well. "Sketch of Hell" was also released in Holland with no English options.
"Castle Orgies" (1971), which Nikkatsu considers its first roman porno (according to the website Ian mentioned), was issued by Tai Seng with English subtitles in the DVD boxset Erotica Japan, which also included "Lustful Revenge" and "Sugar-howling of Angel."

Also I don't even remember how good or bad the encoding was (maybe it has always been the same...) on their discs earlier but at least the later Blu-Rays seem to have just as bad (if not even worse sometimes) encoding as the streams in Amazon.

Nikkatsu is celebrating Roman Porno's 50th anniversary this year. The first ever double feature (Apartment Wife: Affair In the Afternoon & Castle Orgies) premiered Nov. 20, 1971.
There will be a 38 film Roman Porno program in Cinema Vera. The films were selected by actors, directors, critics and fans, including Yuko Katagiri, Moeko Ezawa, Junko Miyashita, Naomi Tani, Sion Sono, Jim O'Rourke, Nami Iguchi and Yu Irie.

The selection is a bit of a mess to be honest, and sadly 20 of the 38 films play in digital, so I can't recommend anyone to waste their money on those ones, but 18 are from 35mm prints, including Love Hotel, Pink Hip Girl, Secret Chronicle: She Beast Market, Angel Guts: Red Classroom, Zoom In: Rape Apartments, and Crazed Fruit (all excellent films). They have also included two of Nikkatsu's Sweden Porno titles, though both in digital.

Nikkatsu's website also says the retrospective should travel to other cities, but there's no further info about that yet. I'm not expecting the full line-up to be shown in many, if any, other cities but perhaps a smaller selection.
