Some new scans. As usual the forum might show these resized. A couple might not have any improvements compared to existing images but oh well.

    Chirashi for the Konuma retro

    via japanmovieposters

There's an alarming amount of DVD screenings included. 8 films are screened from DVD vs. 10 from 35mm.

Earlier this year at Tatsumi Kumashiro retro they screened 6 films in "Digital" (it doesn't specify whether they were DCP or DVD or what) and 18 from 35mm; last year at Chusei Sone retro it was 5 "Digital" vs. 19 from 35mm.

I host them on my own site so nobody is removing them. Well, the more I add them here the more bandwidth is going to be used when people view the thread so at some point I will have to delete the links for some of them. :S

Unfortunately I don't know about the free imagehosts anymore. But if you want I could try to host yours for a time (Send me pm if you want) but the moment too much bandwidth will be used I will have to take them down. Not sure how much will be used though, I have like maybe 6gb traffic per month currently which includes all the images currently in this thread. And as for my bandwidth limits:

Diskspace and Bandwidth is "Unmetered" which means you are not charged according to the amount of diskspace or bandwidth you use.
However, that being said, we do require all customers to be fully compliant with our Terms of Service and to only utilize disk space and bandwidth in the normal operation of a personal or small business website.

    :cuckoo:

And Miles Wood sounds familiar but... no idea. Tried to check my ebay feedbacks but no luck...

    EDIT:

I think the last poster is supposed to be like that, several other 1972 posters are also missing the nipples.

Sundance what image hosting site are you using for uploading these, Imagebam is useless and as you've seen Photobucket remove images.

To answer your question, i lived in Japan for three years so i bought quite a bit when i was living there, off over again visiting at the end of the month! I used to buy and sell when i lived over there, doubtful you bought the 'Zoom In:Rape Apartments' poster from me as that's one i'm after, possibly Miles Wood Ebay ID Matango, he's still buys and sells though not so much on ebay these days.

Got quite a few Nikkatsu posters to upload [need a better camera though], along with several hundred others from different genres!

This one doesn't really improve on the best one I have found on the net (they are very similar as you can see, mine is the left one) but whatever I'll post it here anyways. :P As always the forum might resize them so right-click and view to see in full.

And while it can be seen on the normal images here is a zoom on both to show up the difference between good descreening vs apparently none. Money well spent... ;)

Also, the colors and brightness are probably somewhat off but I'm not a photoshop guru so can't really do anything about it. It might be supposed to look more like below but then again maybe not since we don't know in what kind of lighting the photo was taken and how was the white balance on the camera. :p

Nice posters! Though it seems photobucket has removed two of them... maybe the autograph broke their terms of service and the other poster was just collateral damage. ;)

You bought those while in Japan? Just wondering as I have spent some money on posters as well but it is quite costly when I have to pay all kinds of fees and lose on the currency conversions when using one of those 'deputy services' or whatever they're called.

Though there was a seller at Ebay who apparently went to Japan frequently and bought posters while over there and then sold them at Ebay. I think I bought (maybe) the Zoom In: Rape Apartments poster from him and maybe a couple of others. Can't remember his name or anything and this was back in... 2006 or 2007 or something.

    EDIT:

I'll add this here at the end of this post so I won't have to create a new one for this shit that probably interests nobody. Some boring tech talk but this relates to roman pornos in the way that I am scanning the posters and trying to make them as best I can and everything is shit. I take this stuff seriously.

Yesterday I realized every single one of my scanned images from the past couple of years have these what look like lines (but are not) in them... evenly spaced and at maximum 7 of them if I used the full width of the scanner bed. I scanned a photo from a book and it has that screen thing and halftone dots magazines and newspapers and such have and at a certain zoom level I saw it... this weird line... and then I noticed more of them... And I checked some photos I have scanned and those have the problem as well.

    Example photos:

    http://www.spaghettiwesterndvds.com/images/lide2102.jpg
    http://www.spaghettiwesterndvds.com/images/lide30.jpg

It is not really a line.. it looks as if one vertical pixel line is missing and it is in fact probably what is happening.

Yesterday and today I tried two other similar CIS (Contact Image Sensors) scanners and they also had the exact same problem. And then I googled for hours in two languages and found ONE page which mentioned this kind of problem... the scanner manufacturer was different but it was also a CIS scanner. The person suspects (and I already suspected it as well) the image is scanned by multiple smaller elements and then the vertical pieces are combined to make the full image but the gaps between the elements cause lines of pixels simply go missing and either it is not really possible to "make up" the missing pixels or these cheaper consumer products simply aren't worthy of it.

Perhaps only some models suffer from this but I now know of four and I'm sure there are more yet I only found one mention of this on the net. I guess people just don't see the problem... I mean I didn't see it for couple of years but now that I saw it I see the damn lines all the time and even scanning in very high dpi (600 or even 1200dpi) and then reducing to small size (like 1000px height I use for the posters) will still sometimes leave these very faint remnants that I doubt anybody can spot unless they know they are there (which I of course know...).

Or maybe my scanners or drivers or something simply sucks. I tried two different scan programs and re-installed drivers but no help.

Oh and then I tried a fourth scanner, this one is very old (probably 15 years or something) but is CCD instead of CIS and... no problems at all (except it is really slow and I'm not gonna use it).

    Scanning sucks. ;)
