Edo Porn is great. No other movie combines smut and grossly sentimental regret among the elderly in such a cloddish fashion.

On a somewhat related note, I found the first issue of this in a $1 bin in NJ a few weeks ago.

Toshio Maeda, the manga artist whose work the Urotsukidoji anime series is based on, was very much a part of 70s Japanese exploitation, at least in terms of manga publishing. He pioneered the kind of tentacle sex popularized by Urotsukidoji and now so common a 1976 short story called "Sex-teering":

Nevet got the hype for this honestly, compared to the depths that 70s Japanese exploitation plumb this is pretty weak tea.

I'm sure this will wipe the floor with the previous Media Blasters / Kitty Media attempt a HD release, the hilarious recent German AI upscale and the upcoming Japanese "Archive Set" while still remaining an unfortunate case of "that's-the-best-we-can-do" thanks to the lost original negatives.

At least we dodged this kind of cover "art":

I love PERDITA DURANGO and it doesn't get quoted enough. They were watching the second film, LEGEND OF THE DEMON WOMB, though. I expect that to come from Discotek too in the near future.

This is pure speculation but maybe they'll release other adaptations of Toshio Maeda works like LA BLUE GIRL, ADVENTURE KID and DEMON BEAST INVASION as well?

Considering the somewhat confusing history of this thing. you'd think Discotek would've made an effort to make the press release more straightforward. I'm not sure what UROTSUKIDOJI AND FRIENDS is supposed to mean. Why use that confusing terminology? What the hell is ...AND FRIENDS?

Anyways, I hope I'm correct in assuming that this release is going to be the US NC-17 dubbed feature version and the original, uncut 3-part series in SD, in Japanese language w/subtitles. Plus, special features. That's it, right? No sequels or "friends" included?

Ah, thanks. They probably could've just used the word "subtitles", but whatever.

New Saga wasn't very good and on top of that it was never completed. It ends as soon as the guy goes Gyver the first time. It could've been good but it falls far short of the first two Urotsukidoji OVA's. I thought three, four, and the incomplete five were pretty good but I like the ideas behind them more than the execution.

I have not, I have seen Legend of the Overfiend and Legend of the Demon-Womb, but that's it. I do have the next three from VHS though, should probably sit down and watch them at some point.
