I just watched Jackie's Asian market-cut of The Protector and it schools the U.S.-cut. I'm watching the U.S.-cut thinking "Holy shit, this is the Jackie version of Metallica's Black Album. James Glickenhaus is basically Bob Rock waltzing in, slowing & simplifying the signature sound. Shit!" Then I watch some interviews with this motherfucker talking shit about Jackie's Hong Kong action films. What a myopic slug! My other take away from the Asian market-cut is that I need to see more films with Sally Yeh.

Found the Tri Star DVD of Gorgeous cheap not that long ago. Watched it last night and today,we both crashed out 40 minutes into it last night.
Yea read that this cut is missing 20 minutes. And badly dubbed. The back cover makes it out like any other Chan film from this era. When really it is a rom com. With 2 fight scenes.

Any information on a future blu-ray release of First Strike? Maybe 88 Films? I've never seen the full uncut version.

Before they released Mr. Nice Guy, they indicated that they would release the HK versions of First Strike and Rumble in the Bronx. Hopefully they get around to them this year. (It'd be nice to pick up 88's upcoming Project A set the HK version of those two and be pretty much done with collecting Jackie Chan tiitles.)

That Project A deluxe 4k set is listed at $99.95 on Amazon. That's a bit pricey for only 2 films and a bunch of extras. I hope they put out a cheaper standard blu-ray edition like they did with Police Story 3.

Coming from 88 Films in April.
""By the early 1980s, Jackie Chan’s popularity made him box-office gold. Thus when, midway through filming the sequel to his hit The Fearless Hyena, Chan walked off the production to defect to rival studio Golden Harvest, producer Lo Wei opted to complete the film with the help of stunt doubles and recycled footage. The result—the tale of two lazy cousins (Chan and Austin Wai Tin-chi) who join forces to avenge the deaths of their fathers—may not be pure Chan, but there are plenty of loony pleasures (including our hero fighting an adversary with his feet!) to be had.
