  • Category III

    Two questions.

What are everyone's Top 10 Category III movies and what is the best source for Category III on bluray?

  • #2
    1:

Man Behind the Sun/Black Sun: the Nanking Massacre (Tie)
    The Rape After
    The Untold Story
    The Story of Ricki
    Run and Kill
    Red to Kill
    Fatal Vacation
    Dumplings
    Dream Home
    Lost Souls

Honorable mentions: Ebola Syndrome, 3 Days of a Blind Girl (CAT II but close enough and it has Anthony Wong), The Eternal Evil of Asia, Escape from Brothel, A Day Without Policemen, There is a Secret in my Soup/Human Pork Chop, Daughter of Darkness, The Seventh Curse, The Black Cat, The Underground Banker, Her Vengeance, Gong Tau.

2: As far as Blu is concerned there isn't much. Story of Ricki, Man Behind the Sun is being released by Massacre Video, Uneathed is doing Untold Story. There might be one of Dream Home.

      I figure mine would be:

      Her Vengeance (1988)
      Robotrix (1991)
      Dr. Lamb (1992)
      The Untold Story (1992)
Riki-Oh: The Story Of Ricky (1992)
      Daughter Of Darkness (1993)
      Chinese Torture Chamber Story (1994)
      Naked Killer (1994)
      Taxi Hunter (1995)
      Ebola Syndrome (1996)

...but I haven't seen nearly enough.

Thanks for the recommendations! It sucks that more of these aren't readily available.

Have seen precious few of these, but huge shout-out to ROBOTRIX and NAKED KILLER.

          1. Robotrix
          2. Ebola Syndrome
          3. Fatal Vacation
          4. Run and Kill
          5. Red to Kill
          6. Naked Killer
          7. Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky
          8. Raped by an Angel
          9 The Untold Story
          10 Viva Erotica

There are some more entertaining ones, like Dr. Lamb, Daughter of Darkness and Brother of Darkness that could all have been on the list. A Chinese Torture Chamber Story I don't particularly like, a very mean spirited film though it does star a veery cute girl.

Of course there are also absolutely fantastic 70s and 80s films, especially by the Shaw Brothers, that were made before the Cat III rating existed but landed the rating later on video. I've omitted them assuming this thread is about the 90s or so "Cat III films".

            in no particular order:
            Untold Story
            Devil Fetus
            Diary of a Serial Killer
            Robotrix
            Run and Kill
            Water Tank Murder Mystery
            Rape in Public Sea
            Men Behind the Sun
            A Day Without Policemen
            Eternal Evil of Asia
            Ebola Syndrome

There are very few of them available on Blu-ray, Hell there are so many that are just Laserdisc or VCD, and a lot of them are not even on DVD. I own practically all of them in various formats.

Pretty sure Lost Souls got a CAT III later on VCD. It's easily a CAT III now.

The Rape After is a Cat II film.

Network released Dream Home on BD in the UK. There are quite a few Cat III films on BD in HK.

Taxi Hunter is a Cat II film & Anthony Wong even told the director of that Cat III documentary it was Cat II because the director kept insisting it was a Cat III film.

It would EASILY get a CAT III now.

I wiouldn't count 3 Days of a Blind Girl as it is a Cat IIA (ie the lower end of Cat II rating)

That's why I pointed out it's a CAT II. It's still sleazy, disturbing and has Anthony Wong so it needs to be watched.

Is there a version of WTMM with English subs?

I was pointing out that it was at the lower of the 2 Cat II ratings though which makes a big difference.
