Because I like it that way, even if it's not geographically correct. They have their own thing going on, less in common with Chinese/Japanese/Korean/etc. stuff so in my mind it makes more sense.

I agree. Geography aside, the Indian people really have no strong, current racial, cultural, or even religious connection to the rest of Asia. They are definitely a unique people in the region, & their film industry reflects this. Keep in mind that Russia extends across all of Northern Asia, though few think of Russia as a predominantly Asian country.
