Agusti Villaronga's 'In A Glass Cage' to make U.S. theatrical run this year.

Film released by Cult Epics will open May 12 in San Francisco and May 20 in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles, CA (April 28, 2011) -Cult Epics is pleased to announce San Francisco and Los Angeles theatrical release dates for In a Glass Cage. The film was directed by award-winning Spanish filmmaker Agusti Villaronga (Black Bread, The Sea, Aro Tolbukhin: In the Mind of a Killer) who also wrote the screenplay. In a Glass Cage was considered highly controversial upon its 1987 release. John Waters said about the film “They don't make art-shockers like this anymore. In a Glass Cage is a great film but I'm scared to show it to my friends.” Cult Epics has secured a brand new 35mm print for this theatrical run. The film will debut at the Yerba Buena Center For The Arts in San Francisco on May 12, 2011 and at the Nuart Theater in West Los Angeles on May 20, 2011 with other cities to follow.

In a Glass Cage was recently named one of the most disturbing films ever made by Film Threat Magazine. Cult Epics will release a first-time-ever Blu-ray edition of In a Glass Cage later this year.

In a Glass Cage tells the story of an ex-Nazi sadistic child abuser named Klaus (Gunter Meisner) who is paralyzed and depending on an iron lung to live. A young man named Angelo (David Sust) who comes to nurse him was one of his victim's years before. In a Glass Cage was inspired by the true story of 15th Century French knight Gilles de Rais.

Yerba Buena Center For The Arts
    701 Mission Street
    San Francisco, CA 94103
    Box Office: (415) 321-1323

We just watched this a couple of weeks ago and discussed how badly it needs a new HD transfer - this has the potential to be a huge improvement over the DVD. Seeing it on the big screen would be a kick too...

I really enjoyed it, more so this second time. Would definitely love to see it in the theatre if it comes to NYC!
